‘Ruiner’ Video Game Movie in the Works from Universal, Wes Ball

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that Wes Ball’s involvement in the Ruiner adaptation is music to my ears! Having grown up with the Maze Runner trilogy and the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, I’ve come to appreciate his knack for blending action, emotion, and technology in a way that resonates deeply with gamers.

Wes Ball is slated to take the helm in adapting the widely acclaimed video game “Ruiner” by Reikon, penned by Michael Arlen Ross, who will be writing the script for Universal Pictures.

I’m thrilled to share that the rights for adapting my favorite action shooter game, “Ruiner,” have been acquired by Universal Pictures! Guess who’s been chosen to direct this epic venture? None other than the talented Dan Ball, known for his work on “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” and the “Maze Runner” trilogy.

Under the enigmatic leadership of a hacker, an action-packed gunfighter journeys through a realm of extreme brutality and advanced tech, gradually uncovering the ominous truth concealed beneath the city’s vibrant neon lights.

The ball is full of upcoming projects. Not only is there a possibility of another Apes film, but also, he is set to direct the highly anticipated adaptation of The Legend of Zelda video game for both Nintendo and Sony.

Universal has a history of successful video game adaptations, such as “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” and “Five Nights at Freddy’s.” Producers Kelly McCormick and David Leitch, known for films like “The Fall Guy,” “Bullet Train,” and “Nobody,” will produce the film “Ruiner” under Universal Pictures through their first-look deal with 87North.

Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg, Ball, and Joe Hartwick Jr. are in charge of producing the project, while Timothy I. Stevenson, Dan Jevons, Marek Roefler, Magdalena Tomkowicz, and Jakub Stylinski will serve as executive producers. Ryan Jones, Universal Pictures’ senior vice president of production development, and Jacqueline Garell, their creative executive of production development, will supervise the project on behalf of the studio.
