While an official announcement remains absent, hints suggest that Rocksteady’s upcoming game will likely revolve around Batman once more and potentially debut as one of the inaugural games for PlayStation 6.
The game “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” didn’t quite live up to expectations, but it seems that Rocksteady is planning to return to their specialty – creating a standalone player game, possibly featuring Batman.
The buzz started when a job advertisement for a Senior Core Engine Programmer at Rocksteady appeared, hinting at a new AAA game in production. According to the job listing, this game is intended for platforms such as PS5, Xbox Series X/S, top-tier PCs, and interestingly, “future generations of consoles.” This seemingly casual mention has sparked a flood of speculation.
The implication seems to be that Rocksteady’s upcoming, as yet unrevealed project, is being developed with an eye towards future generations of hardware, rather than focusing solely on the current console market.
Without explicitly mentioning Batman, the job posting hints at similarities with the Arkham series due to its focus on core engine systems, performance optimization, and creating tools for gameplay content.
What adds intrigue to this situation is the timing. Whispers within the gaming industry suggest that the PlayStation 6 might debut around 2027 or 2028. Given that top-tier games require several years to develop, and especially when a studio is still expanding its team, it aligns perfectly with expectations.

It wouldn’t be surprising if this fresh game title becomes part of the next-gen console launch. Given that it initially comes out for PlayStation 5, it seems nearly certain we’ll see a PlayStation 6 version in the future.
It remains uncertain whether this enigmatic title will carry on within the Arkham universe or delve into uncharted territories, but one thing is clear: the signs pointing in that direction are hard to ignore.
Given the convergence of target platforms, engine specifications, and schedule, it appears increasingly likely that Rocksteady’s upcoming title will transport us once again to the streets of Gotham City.
It could also be one of the first major titles to demonstrate what the PS6 can truly do fully.
