On Friday, the movie armorer who was found guilty for the fatal shooting incident involving a cinematographer by Alec Baldwin on the set of the Western film “Rust” was freed from a New Mexico correctional facility upon finishing an 18-month incarceration term.

The prison records indicate that Hannah Gutierrez-Reed left the Western New Mexico Correctional Facility in Grants for Bullhead City, Arizona, under parole, due to her involuntary manslaughter conviction linked to the 2021 death of Halyna Hutchins.

Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was released from the Western New Mexico Correctional Facility in Grants on parole, following her involuntary manslaughter conviction for the death of Halyna Hutchins in 2021. She is now residing in Bullhead City, Arizona.

Or:

After being convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Halyna Hutchins in 2021, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was granted parole and left the Western New Mexico Correctional Facility in Grants for her home in Bullhead City, Arizona.

Gutierrez-Reed is currently under the watch of probation officers, having admitted guilt for illegally bringing a firearm into a licensed bar or tavern.

Or, in a more conversational tone:

Gutierrez-Reed has been placed on probation due to admitting they unlawfully brought a gun into a bar that serves alcohol. Now, they’re under the supervision of probation officers.

In a movie set outside Santa Fe, during a rehearsal for the film Rust, the main actor and coproducer Baldwin accidentally discharged a gun that was in his possession, which resulted in the fatal shooting of Hutchins and the wounding of director Joel Souza.

In March 2024, the jury found Gutierrez-Reed guilty of involuntary manslaughter. However, she has an ongoing appeal for this conviction in a higher court. The jurors did not find her guilty of accusations that she manipulated evidence during the Rust investigation.

The district attorneys pointed fingers at Gutierrez-Reed, claiming he inadvertently brought live bullets to the set of Rust, as well as neglecting fundamental firearm safety guidelines.

As a gamer, I found myself slipping into a situation weeks before starting a new film project in downtown Santa Fe. I was carrying a gun, which was strictly forbidden within city limits. My current parole conditions included regular mental health evaluations and a ban on owning or possessing firearms.

Regrettably, my past actions had landed me with an involuntary manslaughter charge that was eventually dismissed in court last year. The dismissal came about due to claims of evidence withholding by the law enforcement and prosecutors during the trial.

The filming of Rust was completed in Montana. The Western was released in theaters this month.
