As a movie enthusiast with years of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that Sarah Paulson is one of the most versatile and captivating actresses working today. Her latest film, “Hold Your Breath,” showcases her talent once again as she delves into the complex world of a 1930s Oklahoma family grappling with dust storms, religious fervor, and personal turmoil.
Prior to the debut of “Hold Your Breath,” we had a chat with acting powerhouse Sarah Paulson. This gripping psychological thriller, set in 1930s Oklahoma during dust storms and a tense religious community, showcases Paulson’s captivating talent as Margaret, a troubled mother of two who struggles to maintain her sanity and financial stability while her husband is absent at work. With her diverse roles on the small screen, Sarah has been keeping herself busy, and for fans of Ryan Murphy, her stellar performances in various FX series are hard to forget. Currently, Murphy’s new season of “Monsters” is creating a stir on Netflix, and Paulson expressed her interest in joining the show for future seasons.
Paulson told MovieWeb that there’s no request Ryan could make of him that he wouldn’t agree to. He emphasized this statement is true and Ryan is aware of it. Additionally, Paulson believes his work with Ryan, particularly on ‘American Horror Story,’ where we’ve seen some wild things, demonstrates how much fun he had working together.” Paulson further mentioned about Murphy’s Netflix series ‘Monster’ (and possibly ‘Monsters’):
I’ve watched the entire series of “Monster”. It was a privilege to catch some early previews of it, and let me tell you, it was simply amazing! If he ever asks, I’d be ready to go above and beyond.
As a devoted movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that in her latest flick, Paulson shares the screen with another veteran from Ryan Murphy’s stable, Annaleigh Ashford – someone I had the pleasure of working alongside during our stint on the captivating TV series “American Crime Story: Impeachment”. Interestingly enough, our collaboration on set was limited back then, but in “Hold Your Breath”, we finally get to create some magic together. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any more intriguing, let me tell you that there are other TV connections woven into the fabric of this movie as well.
The Bear Reunion in Hold Your Breath
One intriguing aspect of the series “Hold Your Breath” is that it brings Paulson back together with her Season 2 co-star from “The Bear,” Ebon Moss-Bachrach. However, filming for “Hold Your Breath” actually happened before their work on the critically acclaimed FX show. In “Hold Your Breath,” Moss-Bachrach portrays a mysterious preacher named Wallace. According to Paulson:
I filmed my part in the movie ‘The Bear’ before Ebon had started his first season on it, despite the fact that he had already worked on ‘The Bear’. To be honest, I was thrilled to collaborate with him because we had a minuscule connection in the acting world of New York when we were both making our way up. So, when directors Karrie Crouse and William Joines mentioned they wanted him for Wallace,
Paulson shared, “It was really nice for me to step onto the set of The Bear, being a devoted fan of the series. I didn’t act like a groupie around everyone there. Instead, it felt more like, ‘Oh, here’s my old friend. We worked together on that movie and had some wild adventures, remember? Now, look at us, working together again in Chicago.'” You can catch them both in Searchlight Pictures’ Hold Your Breath, now available for streaming on Hulu. Check it out via the link below:
