As a gamer who’s been through countless Marvel movies marathons and late-night gaming sessions, I can say that the MCU never fails to surprise and delight me. The recent release of Deadpool & Wolverine broke box office records, and it was all thanks to Ryan Reynolds pulling some serious strings behind the scenes – or so he claims about the egging incident!
For people who have followed the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies over the years, it’s clear that the universe continues to grow in movie theaters and on streaming platforms with a Disney+ subscription. The latest addition to this ever-growing series is “Deadpool & Wolverine“, which shattered box office records when it was released. Recently, Ryan Reynolds shared some exciting new details about Hugh Jackman’s decision to reprise his role as Logan. It seems that a flat tire and an egging incident played a part in this comeback.
While the Greatest Showman actor hung up the claws after Logan‘s ending, he was eventually convinced to play Wolverine again as part of the Deadpool 3 cast. As a result, Jackman and Reynolds’ faux feud was on full display, to delightful results. In a post on Instagram, Reynolds waxed poetic about getting his buddy to return to the role, including new details about what went into that decision. In his words:
Hugh Jackman pulled over to chat with me. His week hadn’t been great – he’d battled the flu, dealt with two flats, and some thoughtless person had vandalized his home by egging it. However, things quickly escalated. He shared his desire to revive The Wolverine character.
As a longtime fan of both the X-Men series and Ryan Reynolds, I have to say that Jackman’s return as Wolverine has been nothing short of thrilling for me. Being a child of the ’90s, I grew up watching Hugh Jackman bring the iconic character to life on the big screen, and his performance in the recent movies has only solidified my admiration for him. The success of Deadpool 3 is a testament to the enduring appeal of these characters, and I have no doubt that we’ll be seeing more of Wolverine in future Marvel movies. It’s always exciting when our favorite actors get to reprise their roles, especially ones as iconic as Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine.
It’s possible that Reynolds was teasing Jackman when he mentioned his house being egged, but there were likely several reasons behind his decision to wear the yellow Wolverine costume. Fortunately for fans, this led him to be part of the blockbuster, making it even more enjoyable. In the same post, Ryan Reynolds shared some insights about collaborating with his friend and co-star.
For numerous filming sessions spanning months, along with a century’s worth of editing and post-production work, I had an unparalleled view of WOLVERINE. Throughout this experience, I was privy to the wisdom and talent of my close companion and preferred actor. It is possible for two statements to hold true: 1) On occasion, I may overindulge in sugar, and on impulse, throw eggs at his house as a means to feel something. 2) I can maintain a fan’s admiration while also being a friend at the same time.
It’s clear they had a blast making it, given the close bond between Reynolds, Jackman, and director Shawn Levy. There was no doubt it was going to be an enjoyable process to bring Deadpool and Wolverine to life. That joyous vibe certainly came across on the big screen. It’s quite intriguing to anticipate the next chapter in the MCU for this duo. Marvel has faced a few cinematic setbacks lately, such as Ant-Man 3 and The Marvels. Consequently, Deadpool 3’s success becomes crucial, potentially influencing Marvel’s future strategies. For now, we can only guess what Kevin Feige has in store, particularly regarding upcoming X-Men ventures.
