Ryan Reynolds Says The Most Well-Written Villain Ever In Movies Isn’t A Character

Ryan Reynolds Says The Most Well-Written Villain Ever In Movies Isn't A Character

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a tinge of nostalgia when it comes to the world of Marvel and its colorful cast of characters. The recent development of Ryan Reynolds wanting his friend Rob McElhenney to play the iconic character Bob in the Deadpool universe has me more than just excited.

Though it appears Ryan Reynolds bravely spearheaded both the creation of “Deadpool & Wolverine” and its status as the highest-grossing R-rated movie, the actor known for Deadpool admits he faces one foe he can’t conquer: expectation. Recently, on social media, Reynolds applauded his co-owner of Wrexham FC, Rob McElhenney, whose Marvel Cinematic Universe debut was among the scenes from “Deadpool & Wolverine” that didn’t make it into the final edit. McElhenney, famously known for “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and “Mythic Quest,” appeared as a TVA agent on set but unfortunately, his role was eliminated during the film’s post-production process.

Reynolds wrote on Instagram, “Anyway, I loved making this movie but it wasn’t without stress. There was a lot of expectation — and I’m pretty sure the most well written villain in cinema history is ‘Expectation.’ And when you do stressful stuff, it feels good when friends are nearby. And even though I’m mortified he flew all the way to London for a cameo that wasn’t meant to be, I’m grateful my friend was there with me on that set.” Reynolds added, “He shows up for people. And he showed up for me. *Even as he begged for his life before Alioth snatched his unsuspecting body into the air, swallowing him whole, eventually digesting and converting him into Alioth-poo. RIP TVA Soldier.”

Although the show “Deadpool & Wolverine” couldn’t accommodate McElhenney in the role of a TVA agent, Reynolds proposed an alternative by suggesting him for another role within Marvel Studios, stating that this character fit McElhenney exceptionally well.

Although Ryan Reynolds didn’t portray a TVA agent with a Time Stick in “Deadpool & Wolverine,” he believes that Rob McElhenney could excel as HYDRA’s version of Bob. In conclusion, Reynolds playfully suggested in his post, “P.S. Rob would be fantastic as Hydra Bob,” and tagged Marvel Studios to share his idea.

For individuals unfamiliar, Bob Dobalina first appeared in “Cable and Deadpool #38 back in 2007. Initially, he was just an ordinary guy who found himself joining a wicked organization after his girlfriend criticized him for his inconsistent employment history. Over time, his stint as an underperforming henchman brought him into contact with Deadpool, leading to a somewhat turbulent friendship with Wade. This alliance, predictably, didn’t go too swimmingly.

Without a doubt, Bob was featured in the live-action adaptation of Wade Wilson’s universe during the first “Deadpool” film. The character was portrayed by Rob Hayter, but due to his brief screen time, he may have gone unnoticed as a relatively minor Marvel character who turns out to be more significant than you might think initially. Now that “Deadpool” and his storyline are officially integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it’s possible that future Deadpool stories could introduce a new version of Bob and have McElhenney take on the iconic green and yellow mask. It’s only fair, considering Reynolds’ character sacrificed one of his friends to a dimensional smoke monster without even letting viewers witness the event.
