Ryan Reynolds Teams Up with DogPool for Ad—And It’s Cutely Unconventional!

It seems you might not be aware that Ryan Reynolds does indeed have a project planned for 2025 – it’s the long-awaited “R-rated road trip adventure,” titled “Animal Friends.” There’s a strong possibility he will star as one of the main characters in this film.

Today, we’ll delve into another partnership between the actor who played Deadpool and Wolverine, along with Peggy the dog, famously known as DogPool from that movie. It seems their previous collaboration was so delightful that Reynolds, under his Maximum Effort advertising label, has enlisted his dog companion to promote the brand Ugly Wines.

This “Extreme” wine advertisement might come off as a simple joke, but it’ll undoubtedly bring laughter. On the other hand, I challenge you to watch this heartwarming video of Peggy the Hairless Pug, posted on her genuine Instagram account, without finding it incredibly cute:

Apart from the well-known fact that wine can be harmful to dogs, it’s quite charming to see Ms. DogPool enjoying Ugly Wine’s boxes. Indeed, the main point of this advertisement is that these containers are said to hold “33% more wine than a typical bottle,” which makes for an economical choice.

Regardless of her unique appearance with a perpetually stuck-out tongue, Peggy the Hairless Pug certainly captivates everyone’s attention. I may not be convinced enough to join the “Peggy v. Brisket” debate between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, but it’s heartening to see an animal that doesn’t fit traditional standards of attractiveness still garnering success.

It seems that Maximum Effort’s pitching talents span a broad spectrum of glamour, as evidenced by our previous mention of their work on Channing Tatum’s Super Bowl ad for Stōk Cold Brew. This versatility allows them to represent both muscular celebrities and less traditionally handsome figures, such as Rick Moranis and Sir Anthony Hopkins, within their roster.

Although some fans were disheartened not to see Ryan Reynolds’ name in the long list of Avengers: Doomsday, it would also be a letdown if his potential appearance in Secret Wars didn’t involve him sitting beside Peggy, as his character from DogPool is highly valued. With her recent expansion into promoting wine for Ugly Estates, I anticipate that her popularity will only increase.

In simpler terms, it’s not common for someone to create wine advertisements while also maintaining a successful career. However, there are exceptions like the legendary director Orson Welles, whose advertisements are hard to forget.

If you’re looking for a concept for your next Ugly Estates advertisement, Mr. Reynolds, feel free to reach out to my team. In the meantime, let’s shift our focus towards the lineup of upcoming Marvel movies. Our next destination is Thunderbolts, scheduled for release on May 2nd. Regarding Animal Friends, it’s slated for an October 10th premiere, but should any updates arise, we’ll inform you sooner than a swift wag of a bald pug’s tail.
