Ryunosuke Okazaki Presents ‘Oracle’ at Tang Contemporary Art Hong Kong

As a connoisseur of contemporary art with a penchant for spirituality and a soft spot for Japanese aesthetics, I am thrilled to announce my anticipation for Ryunosuke Okazaki’s solo exhibition, “Oracle,” at Tang Contemporary Art in Hong Kong. Having been deeply moved by the profound meditations on humanity’s relationship with the divine in his previous works, I eagerly await this new exploration of spirituality in the modern age.

As a captivated admirer, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been warmly welcomed into the new year by Tang Contemporary Art in the vibrant city of Hong Kong, through the enchanting solo exhibition, Oracle, by the gifted Japanese artist and fashion designer Ryunosuke Okazaki. This exhibition delves deeply into themes of prayer, serenity, and spirituality, offering a profound exploration into the intricate bond between humanity and the divine realm. Through his distinctive style of intricate forms, meandering lines, and endless spirals, Okazaki invites us on a thought-provoking journey that transcends the boundaries of art and touches the very essence of our souls.

By referring to ancient texts such as the Nihon Shoki and Kojiki, the exhibition reinterprets oracles as entities that pulse with spiritual importance. Within this environment, they serve not so much as infallible truths but rather as enigmatic puzzles, embodying humanity’s ongoing conversation with the divine realm.

In Okazaki’s artistic journey, there is a strong reflection of this concept as he highlights the role of material as an integral player in shaping significance. By merging the basic charm of Jomon pottery with cutting-edge craftsmanship, his pieces stir an intriguing harmony between humanity, nature, and technology.

Born in Hiroshima, this artist seamlessly integrates historical recollections and cutting-edge technologies into a captivating examination of spirituality in contemporary times. Persistently addressing topics such as prayer, Zen meditation, and the concept of “doing nothing,” their artworks blur the boundaries between physical reality and the transcendent, reestablishing the link between artwork and the enigmatic core of life.

The exhibition titled “Oracle” is set to debut at Tang Contemporary Art in Hong Kong on the 11th of January, 2025. It will run until the 19th of February, 2025.
