RZA Releases First Classical Album ‘A Ballet Through Mud’

As a gamer with a deep love for music and a soft spot for stories that resonate with personal growth, I must say, RZA’s “A Ballet Through Mud” has truly piqued my interest. The fusion of hip-hop roots with classical compositions, the themes of love, loss, and friendship mirroring his journey from Staten Island to concert halls – it all feels like a symphony of my own life experiences, albeit with a bit more rhythm and rhyme!

In a new development, RZA unveiled his initial classical piece titled “A Ballet Through Mud“. This release came through Platoon and 36 Chambers, with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra having previously performed it live.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but be captivated by this ballet that unfolds as a heartfelt tale of personal growth. The characters in this narrative are intriguingly named after Greek musical scales, adding a unique touch to the storyline. This dance drama delves deep into complex themes such as love, sorrow, and camaraderie, mirroring the journey of RZA from his humble beginnings on Staten Island to his triumphant rise as a celebrated artist performing in prestigious concert halls.

During the pandemic, a member of the Wu-Tang Clan found some old lyric notebooks and went on to compose “A Ballet Through Mud” as a result.

Pietro Rossi mixed and mastered the work, while Christopher Dragon conducted the live orchestra.
