After Chitose Abe’s Sacai FW25 runway show in Paris, the diverse Japanese label has unveiled a fresh collaborative collection with Tetsu Nishiyama’s WTAPS. This is their reunion since their 2023 capsule, and the new items delve further into military motifs, yet with a refined, more fashion-forward approach.
In this collection, Sacai gives a modern twist to a classic double-breasted two-piece suit for men, while WTAPS incorporates tactical elements such as patch pockets on the jacket and trousers. For women, the style aligns more closely with WTAPS’ aesthetic, featuring a cropped work jacket and shorts adorned with multiple cargo pockets. The images showcase shades of gray, but there will also be limited releases in khaki colorways.
The fresh assortment encompasses five items for men and women, blending elements from each brand, along with unisex hoodies, t-shirts, and jointly designed hats. These items are set to debut on the launch date. Every piece will showcase a unique embroidered detail exclusive to WTAPS’ MIL collection line.
In their latest venture, Sacai and WTAPS have taken their initial collaboration a step further, moving from a focus on an army green bomber-style shirt and six-pocket trousers to a more intricate design. By blending Sacai’s collage style with WTAPS’ tactical elements, they have created a two-piece suit that is contributing to the growing trend of fusion office wear and “corpcore.
On February 7, both online and in physical stores, the newest joint creation from Sacai and WTAPS is scheduled for release.
