The individual who admitted to breaking into and assaulting Saif Ali Khan at his residence in Bandra was found out to be Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad. Initial records showed he is a citizen of Bangladesh, but it has been discovered more recently that this person previously worked as a staff member at The Blair All Day restaurant located near the Hiranandani area in Thane.

Nelson Salda, who had been employed in the housekeeping department at the restaurant since September 2024, confirmed to IANS that his contract with the establishment would end on December 15, 2024. The employer added that Salda followed the usual procedures at the restaurant and was respectable as an employee, though he had introduced himself as Bijoy Das. Notably, it was a third-party vendor who secured Salda’s job at the restaurant.

At a recent press conference, DCP Dikshit Gedam of the Crime Branch Mumbai revealed additional information about the suspect. He explained that the main evidence suggests the 30-year-old individual in question is actually Bangladeshi. Gedam noted that this person does not possess valid Indian identification documents. Furthermore, certain findings suggest he is a national of Bangladesh. The police have registered an FIR and one individual has been apprehended based on these findings.

It seems that Shahzad arrived in Mumbai approximately five to six months ago, and more recently, he infiltrated the home of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor with the aim of burglary. Upon illegally entering India, he altered his name and resided in various locations over the past 15 days before arriving in Mumbai. Reports indicate that the suspect was apprehended near Hiranandani Estate in Kasarvadavali, approximately 35 kilometers from Saif Ali Khan’s residence in Bandra.
