Akash Kanojia, a man under investigation for the Saif Ali Khan attack incident, was taken into custody on a train in Chhattisgarh. Yet, another suspect was later apprehended in Thane, leading to Kanojia’s release. Despite this setback, having lost his job, Kanojia has decided to demonstrate his intent by standing vigil outside the actor’s residence.
In conversation with PTI, Akash Kanojia, previously apprehended in the Saif Ali Khan case from Chhattisgarh, criticized Mumbai police for their error. He expressed that his family was left stunned and weeping when news stations displayed his images as the ‘primary suspect.’
One blunder they made significantly impacted my life. Unfortunately, they didn’t recognize I had a mustache, and the individual captured on the CCTV was mistaken for an actor’s instead,” he explained.
Additionally, he mentioned that he was apprehended by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Durg during a trip intended for a marriage meeting. He also alleged that police officers from Mumbai physically harmed him after taking custody of him from the railway police. Kanojia then asserted that following his release, his life started spiraling downwards due to a series of unfortunate events as requested by his mother.

In his own words, he shared that when he phoned his job, they requested he didn’t come in to work. Despite his attempts to provide an explanation, they seemed unwilling to listen. Furthermore, he mentioned that the family of his potential bride had declined the marriage proposal according to what he told us.
Kanojia acknowledges that there were two instances where charges were brought against him, one at Cuffe Parade and another in Gurgaon. However, he emphasizes that this does not give anyone the right to implicate him as a suspect in such a way, only to leave him high and dry afterwards. He intends to wait outside Saif Ai Khan’s building and look for employment since he has lost everything due to what transpired with him.
Akash asserted that it was a heavenly influence which led to Shariful’s arrest by the police just hours after being held at Durg railway station. He also voiced his worry about being implicated in the case and called for fairness and justice.
On January 16, 2025, Saif Ali Khan faced an intrusion at his Bandra home, resulting in an attack. He received medical treatment at Lilavati Hospital and was released on January 21, 2025, five days after the incident.
