Salman Khan remained on phone with Remo D'Souza's wife Lizelle throughout his operation, reveals director-choreographer recalling his ‘scary’ heart attack

As a fervent admirer of the Bollywood industry, I have always been captivated by the profound connections that exist between its luminaries. However, none has ever struck me as deeply moving as the bond shared between Salman Khan and Remo D’Souza. The tale of their camaraderie, punctuated by moments of adversity and triumph, is a testament to the extraordinary nature of their relationship.

In one of Salman Khan’s major movies, Race 3, directed by Remo D’Souza, proved to be a massive box office success. It seems that when you’re associated with a superstar like him, you become immersed in his sphere, and he ensures his impact is constant. This became clear when Remo suffered a severe heart attack; Salman kept the connection open throughout Remo’s surgery, providing support every step of the way.

During a conversation with Mashable India, Remo shared that Salman Khan was in constant contact with my wife, from the moment I entered the operating room until I left the ICU. He remained on the phone with her throughout this period, even while she was in bed recovering. This is just one example of why he is so widely admired and known for having a kind heart.

For those who may not be aware, in the year 2020, Remo experienced a complete blockage in his heart. As a result, he required an angiography procedure, which was performed at Kokilaben Hospital.

During the same interview, Remo D’Souza went on to describe a day that left him reeling. He shared that later in the day, he was required to appear on Bigg Boss. It was while he was at the gym that he began to feel uneasy, so he opted not to exercise further. However, even simple stretching started causing him growing discomfort, eventually making him feel queasy.

At this point, Lizelle quickly escorted him out for urgent medical care. Upon arriving at the hospital, the doctor informed Remo that he suffered a complete blockage, indicating a severe heart attack. Remo disclosed this information, mentioning that Lizelle cried during the journey, while he found himself laughing unexpectedly. The director was astonished to learn about Remo’s cardiac arrest given his fitness-oriented lifestyle.

In my own words, “The physician declared that my fitness allowed me to make it here, a feat few others could accomplish. Frankly, the journey was terrifying. I hope none of my adversaries ever witness the emotions I experienced.” -D’Souza

On the work front, Remo will be next helming Be Happy headlined by Abhishek Bachchan.
