Salman Khan reveals why he didn’t do any OTT film after Radhe; talks about Neeraj Pandey’s Khakee: The Bengal Chapter

Right now, Salman Khan is actively marketing his upcoming blockbuster film titled Sikandar, set to debut in cinemas this Eid. In a recent discussion, the popular star shared the motivation behind not participating in any films for streaming platforms after Radhe. He also touched upon Neeraj Pandey’s Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, which stars Jeet and Prosenjit Chatterjee.

As reported by renowned photographer Varinder Chawla via his Instagram account, Salman Khan publicly shared his opinions on movies being released both on OTT platforms and in cinemas. He stated that large screens are designed to create a unique viewing experience for films, and added that this also benefits everyone financially.

Regarding over-the-top (OTT) platforms, my movie “Radhe” was exclusively released on them. Since then, I haven’t taken up any new projects because I believe movies are meant to be experienced in a specific way, and theaters provide that experience. Theaters were designed for audiences to come and watch films.

The Bengal Chapter, and I’ve watched the original one too.

Besides the actor, these films – such as Chhaava, Jawaan, Pushpa, and Animal – were also praised by him for their success at the box office. He believes that word-of-mouth recommendations play a significant role, and it is evident that audiences are still visiting cinemas.

He acknowledged that ticket prices can be steep, but even several months following a film’s theatrical debut, it becomes available for streaming on online platforms. However, he confidently expressed that high-quality movies continue to draw crowds to movie theaters.

2021’s film “Radhe,” headlined by Salman Khan, boasts a star-studded cast that includes Disha Patani, Randeep Hooda, Jackie Shroff, and others. This action-packed thriller made its debut on the streaming platform Zee 5. Simultaneously, “Khakee: The Bengal Chapter” is available for streaming on Netflix.

Regarding the highly anticipated movie titled “Sikandar,” it stars Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna, but also includes Prateik Babbar, Sharman Joshi, Kajal Aggarwal, Anjini Dhawan, among others in important roles. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, this film is scheduled to hit theaters on Eid, which falls on March 30, 2025.
