Salman Khan’s Sikandar suffers Rs 91 crore loss due to piracy leak, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment to file massive insurance claim

In 2025, AR Murugadoss’ film “Sikandar,” featuring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna, along with numerous other actors, hit the big screen on Eid. However, both critics and audiences expressed dissatisfaction with the movie, resulting in a less-than-impressive box office run. The film earned around 100 crore INR in India and approximately 175 crore worldwide, but unfortunately failed to meet expectations. Additionally, “Sikandar” faced issues with widespread pre-release piracy before its release.

On the eve before its premiere, Sikandar’s movie was extensively leaked online. The leak wasn’t a minor issue but a significant one, with notorious streaming platforms such as Tamilrockers, Movierulz, and Filmyzilla obtaining the pirated version of the movie, all in high definition.

Currently, it appears that Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment plans to submit an insurance claim worth around 910 million Indian Rupees due to financial losses caused by piracy, specifically the online leak of “Sikandar.” A trusted insider, speaking to Bollywood Hungama, revealed that a thorough evaluation was conducted to determine the extent of the leak’s impact on revenue. The final report, submitted by Ernst & Young (EnY), estimated the total loss at approximately 91 crores.

According to experts within the industry, the estimated Rs 91 crore was calculated by considering factors such as pre-release box office predictions, theater attendance patterns, and regional drops in earnings due to the film leak. Additionally, it’s said that digital tracking tools were employed to monitor the extent of unauthorized downloads across all platforms for the movie starring Salman Khan.

The illegally distributed version of Sikandar differed significantly from the edited version screened in cinemas. Many sequences in the pirated film lacked the high-quality visual effects found in the theater version, and certain scenes within the pirated copy were not included in the final edit.

We’ll have to wait and see if NGE decides to make a piracy insurance claim. If they do, it’ll certainly be fascinating to find out how much of the claimed sum gets recovered. Everyone in Bollywood is keeping a close eye on this fresh development that has sparked quite a bit of curiosity.

Discussing NGE, the bustling film studio, following the release of Sikandar during Eid, they have now premiered Housefull 5 over the Bakri Eid holiday. Currently, they’re focusing on a September debut for Baaghi 4.
