Samsung Launches its Latest Flagship Tablets, the Galaxy Tab S10 Series

As an avid gamer with years of experience under my belt, I must say that Samsung’s latest offering, the Galaxy Tab S10 series, has certainly caught my attention. The performance upgrades and AI capabilities are impressive, particularly for a gaming tablet.

Samsung has unveiled two new models in its premium tablet series, namely the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra and the Galaxy Tab S10+. These Android-based devices, according to Samsung, mark their first foray into creating tablets specifically designed for Artificial Intelligence.

The latest Galaxy Tab S10 series tablets show significant enhancements in performance compared to their predecessors. Improvements include increased graphics capabilities, enhanced raw computing power, and a boost in CPU performance by 18% (compared to the S9 Ultra), as well as a 28% increase in GPU performance. Additionally, Samsung has upgraded the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) responsible for AI functionality within the new S10 range by 14%, reflecting their focus on artificial intelligence.

It’s understandable that, being the world’s leading screen manufacturer, Samsung’s new tablets boast impressive displays. The smaller of the two, the S10+, sports a 12.4-inch display, making it one of the largest tablet screens available. The S10 Ultra outdoes it with an expansive 14.6-inch screen that towers over most competitors, such as Apple’s 13-inch largest tablet model. Both models feature a high-quality AMOLED 2X display with a swift 120Hz refresh rate, making them excellent choices for gaming. They also promise to perform well in bright conditions, boasting a peak brightness of 930 nits on the S10 Ultra and 650 nits in the S10+. To enhance your viewing experience based on environmental lighting, Samsung has integrated adaptive modes like High Brightness Mode and Vision Booster that intelligently adjust your screen for optimal viewing.

The new tablets are equipped with the Dimensity 9300+ chipset, which might take some by surprise given that Samsung used Snapdragon processors in the S10 series. Nevertheless, it is said to perform equally well as the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the top-tier Android processor at present. The S10 Ultra comes with 12GB of RAM as standard for both 256GB and 512GB models, but only goes up to 16GB in the 1TB model; the S10+ offers only 12GB of RAM across its 256GB and 512GB storage variants. A notable feature is that both models have a Micro SD card slot for expandable storage, a feature that has remained since the Tab S9 series and continues to be one of Samsung’s tablets’ key selling points.

Samsung is emphasizing the AI features of its latest tablets, particularly those focused on productivity. These include Note Assist, a function that automatically summarizes and transcribes users’ notes (even handwritten ones using the S Pen stylus), and Handwriting Help, which tidies up messy handwritten notes as its name implies. Another feature is Sketch to Image, transforming user sketches into drawings, allowing even those with limited artistic skills to visualize their ideas. Notably, Samsung’s S Pen stylus comes standard with each device, unlike its main competitor who sells the stylus separately.

The Samsung S10 Ultra and S10+ come equipped with a four-speaker system for powerful, crisp sound. Artificial Intelligence plays a role as well, with Dialogue Boost software enhancing onboard microphones to amplify user voices and filter out background noise for exceptional call quality. These models are rated IP68, making them completely dust-resistant and almost waterproof, capable of surviving underwater up to 1 meter (3 feet) for as long as half an hour. Samsung has fortified both devices with a material they call Armor Aluminum, claiming it’s durable enough to handle everyday bumps and scrapes, making them suitable for use in various environments, including outdoors or by the pool.

The battery capacity of both models is noteworthy; the larger S10 Ultra boasts a 11200 mAh battery, while the S10+ has a slightly smaller 10090 mAh battery. Your usage habits, particularly with power-intensive apps like games, will determine how long you can go without recharging, ranging from an entire day to more than two days.

These days, you can get your hands on the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S10+ from a majority of outlets, including Samsung’s official website. Each model offers a choice between two colors: Moonstone Grey and Platinum Silver. The Galaxy Tab S10+ begins at $999 USD, while the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra starts at a price point of $1199 USD.
