The likes of Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Dana Carvey, Jimmy Fallon, Amy Poehler, Tracy Morgan, and Andy Samberg have graced our screens before, and now they’re back in action. This project hails from the creative mind of Lorne Michaels, who has been behind the scenes of NBC’s sketch comedy series since its debut on October 11, 1975 – yep, you heard it right; we’re celebrating the 50th season! So, get ready for a hilarious ride as we delve into another season of this iconic series.

In the trailer, Samberg confesses, “For my initial audition, I became sick to my stomach.” At another moment in the clip, Fey remarks about SNL, “It thrives on competition.

One episode delves into the famous “More Cowbell” sketch from 2000, while another explores the turbulent Season 11, which almost led to the show’s cancellation despite boasting big names like Robert Downey Jr., Randy Quaid, and Joan Cusack.

In the trailer, Fallon expresses his astonishment, stating, “I can hardly believe it – you’re creating a documentary about the cowbell sketch!

Morgan Neville, executive producer for SNL50, has always been captivated by Saturday Night Live. For the 50th anniversary celebration, he’s had the privilege to join forces with several independent filmmakers he admires to delve deeper into the stories of SNL. Collectively, these self-contained episodes offer a fresh viewpoint on what makes SNL tick.

50th Anniversary Specials for Saturday Night Live (SNL) include the release of “Beyond Saturday Night” and the debut of “Ladies & Gentlemen… 50 Years of SNL Music”. The former will air on January 27th on NBC, while the latter can be viewed on both NBC and Peacock on February 16th in a live primetime special.
