Saturday Night Live Star Confirms Another Surprising Exit Ahead of Season 50: 'I Was Not Asked Back'

As a gamer who has lived through countless seasons of Saturday Night Live, I must say, this news about Chloe Troast not returning for Season 50 is as surprising as my character suddenly losing all their health points without any warning!

The highly anticipated debut of Saturday Night Live‘s historic 50th season is fast approaching in the 2024 television lineup, but it seems that the show still has a few surprises up its sleeve as it nears its return. Following the departures of two cast members this summer, another long-time member from Season 49 will not be rejoining. Chloe Troast, who joined SNL for Season 49 last year, will not make a comeback for Season 50.

Now former SNL featured player Chloe Troast confirmed the news herself on social media. She posted this message on Instagram:

regretfully, I wasn’t invited back to SNL for this season; it’s a pity because the friends I made there were exceptional, making the place feel like home. However, it just didn’t work out. I want to express my gratitude to everyone who showed their support and attended my tour this summer, dressing up as characters and sharing kind words. You all hold a special place in my heart. I hope I brought joy and laughter to you all; sending love your way. Onward and upward!

It wasn’t explained why Troast wasn’t invited for Season 50, but Deadline reveals that three new members – Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim, and Jane Wickline – have joined the cast of Saturday Night Live. The announcement about Troast leaving arrives just a few weeks after Punkie Johnson announced her departure ahead of the 50th season. This was followed closely by Molly Kearney confirming their exit after two seasons.

Fans will need a Peacock Premium subscription to rewatch Season 49 of SNL where Troast appeared, but current and past SNL team members expressed praise and support for her on her Instagram post.

  • Marcello Hernández: “Chloe the orphan with an incredible voice”
  • Molly Kearney: “You’re a genius and a star and the people love you”
  • Ben Marshall: “Love you forever”
  • Ana Gasteyer: “Still in the club. Can’t wait to see where you go 🔥”
  • Chloe Fineman: “Bigger and Better things. I love you so so much and you were a big big light this year. Chloe supremacy, always ❤️❤️”
  • Ego Nwodim: “❤️❤️❤️”
  • Sarah Sherman: “🫡🫡🫡 love u 🫡🫡🫡”

For Season 50 of Saturday Night Love, some fresh faces have joined the main cast after Chloe Troast, Molly Kearney, and Punkie Johnson announced their departures. Previously featured players Marcello Hernandez, Michael Longfellow, and Devon Walker have been upgraded to full-time cast members. I must admit, I didn’t foresee any more cast alterations before Season 50, especially with the premiere scheduled for late September. However, as we approach the sketch comedy’s monumental season, it seems prudent to always be ready for the unexpected.

Season 50 of the show promises to be extraordinary, with Maya Rudolph set to revisit her character Kamala Harris, in anticipation of the 2024 Presidential Election. The excitement surrounding this is unprecedented for the actress, who says she’s never felt anything like it before. Molly Shannon hinted at more big names coming back to Saturday Night Live, although she didn’t confirm her own return.

It appears that we can expect the key figures from Season 50 to return, even with the cast modifications during the summer. The season premiere is scheduled for September 28 at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC, and it will later be available for streaming on Peacock. As of now, no host has been announced for the first episode of Season 50, but I find it unlikely that Maya Rudolph as Kamala Harris won’t make an appearance in the opening skit.
