Savannah Chrisley on How Trump’s Election Win Led to Todd and Julie Chrisley’s Prison Release: “We Knew That Was Our Only Way Out”

Savannah Chrisley expresses that a victory in the 2024 presidential election by Donald Trump would provide her parents with their “sole path” or “last hope” for release from prison.

The famous reality TV family had their first post-prison television appearance on Fox News’ My View with Lara Trump over the weekend. During this interview, Todd, Julie, Savannah and Grayson Chrisley talked about their release from prison, which was initiated by a pardon granted by Donald Trump.

the family appeared on Lara Trump’s show after being released from prison, and their release was due to a pardon given by Donald Trump.

In a recent talk, Savannah, who’s been fighting tirelessly for her parents’ freedom since their incarceration in 2023, expressed how they had hit “rock bottom” before receiving word that Todd and Julie were being granted clemency. She remembered having an argument with Grayson, her younger brother whom she took care of after their parents went to jail, on the very day they received this life-altering news.

Going through all of this has been an exhilarating whirlwind, and on the day they were pardoned, we happened to be at odds. It was undoubtedly the worst day imaginable,” she expressed. “At that moment, I had come to accept that I had done everything possible. I felt there was nothing more I could do. And then, I received a call from Margo Martin.

As a gamer, I’d put it this way: “I reckon Trump winning the 2024 election is the only card up their sleeve for Todd and Julie.

As his sister, I shared the historic election experience with Grayson, who cast his first vote ever. When the results came in and our president won, we were overcome with emotion. In that moment, he embraced me tightly, knowing that victory was our path to safety.

Todd expressed his gratitude towards both God and President Trump. He believes that it was God who inspired people to support him, and it was ultimately God who answered his prayers and brought him back home to his family. So, he is deeply thankful.

Following the departure of her parents, Savannah took guardianship not just of Grayson but also Chloe, who is biologically Kyle (Todd’s eldest son) and was adopted by them in 2016. In a recent conversation, their youngest child expressed joy that their family no longer needed to conceal their political opinions, hinting at their vocal backing of Trump.

Lara also inquired from Todd and Julie if they had chatted with the president after their discharge. They both responded negatively, but Savannah pointed out that her father had a quick conversation with Trump via FaceTime while she was on the phone with Margo Martin, who serves as the president’s special assistant and communications advisor.

Todd said when he talked to Trump, he told him, “Thank you, you reunited me with my family.”

Towards the end of May, Martin posted a video showing Trump making a call to Savannah and Grayson, informing them that their parents would receive complete pardons.

In June 2022, federal charges like bank fraud and tax evasion found me and my partner guilty. Fast forward to November of the same year, we faced sentencing. My sentence included 12 years in prison, followed by 16 months of probation. For Julie Chrisley, it was seven years behind bars, along with 16 months of probation.

News about their pardon arrived nearly a week following Lifetime’s announcement that the Chrisley family would be back on reality TV, with a fresh series titled “The Untitled Chrisleys Project.” This upcoming show promises to offer an intimate look into the Chrisleys’ lives in a unique and dramatic way, giving viewers unprecedented access to their personal experiences. The cameras captured Todd and Julie’s emotional reunion after prison.

After their release, Todd and Savannah hinted at their upcoming program during a press conference. A former contestant of “Special Forces” season two stated, “We had been filming and essentially finished filming. Then we received a call saying they had granted us pardons. So, we immediately resumed filming and are thrilled because this new show will provide viewers with a glimpse into our trial experiences and clear up any misunderstandings, releasing certain documents.

“You will see the first time he and Mom see each other for the first time,” Savannah added.

During their conversation with Lara, Todd and Julie continued discussing their personal time spent in prison. They recounted tales of the diverse individuals they encountered behind bars, and expressed a strong dedication to championing the causes of those currently incarcerated.
