Savannah Chrisley recently shared insights on the release of her parents, well-known reality TV personalities Todd and Julie Chrisley, who were granted clemency by former U.S. President Donald Trump following their imprisonment for multiple years due to convictions related to bank fraud and tax evasion.
Wow, it’s been incredible! It’s still hard to believe, as if it’s not really happening,” the host of the “Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley” podcast shared with People Magazine on Friday. “We were about to go to sleep last night, asking ourselves ‘Is this actually true?’, and then I wake up this morning, and my mom is standing in my room! It’s absolutely mind-blowing!” she continued.
Trump granted clemency to the Chrisleys on Wednesday, following their 2022 convictions. Savannah Chrisley shared that her parents were just starting to adapt to life outside prison after serving nearly three years. “It’s clearly an adjustment… I think they’re still quite shocked right now,” she said. “Going from being in prison for over two and a half years, then suddenly returning to ‘normal’ life – it’s a massive change that I can hardly fathom.
In June 2022, Todd and Julie Chrisley were convicted on federal charges related to bank fraud and tax evasion. They were subsequently sentenced in November of the same year; Todd was given a prison sentence of 12 years with an additional 16 months of probation, while Julie received a seven-year prison term along with 16 months of probation.
I catapulted into the limelight through our USA Network show, “Chrisley Knows Best,” which shone a light on my family. Mostly, it’s been Todd, Julie, Savannah, Chase (our eldest), Grayson, and Grayson, who joined us after adoption. Notably, Chloe, the biological daughter of our eldest son Kyle, became part of our family in 2016, following her adoption.
Once her parents left for their sentences, Savannah took on guardianship of both Grayson and Chloe.
