As a cinephile who has been following Robert Pattinson’s career evolution for over a decade now, I must say that I am both excited and intrigued by his upcoming role in “Mickey 17.” From his humble beginnings as Edward Cullen to his current status as the Dark Knight, Pattinson has truly come a long way.
Apologies, fellow enthusiasts! It seems we’ll need to exercise some patience as I won’t be donning multiple roles in director Bong Joon-ho’s intriguing sci-fi thriller, titled Mickey 17, just yet. The delay is due to a contentious biopic project on the horizon. In this masterpiece, I portray Mickey, an employee who joins an interstellar voyage and is re-cloned whenever he perishes on the space station. However, chaos ensues when the number of clones multiplies beyond expectation.
Initially, Mickey 17 was set to premiere on January 31. However, the release date for this movie has been moved ahead by approximately two and a half months, now scheduled for April 18. Delays in movie releases are not uncommon. Interestingly, April was actually the original intended release month for Mickey 17, but it had to contend with stiff competition from another film, the Michael Jackson biopic titled Michael. Lionsgate has decided to postpone Michael until October, aiming to generate Oscar buzz for the 2026 awards. With Michael moved, April now presents a clear runway for Mickey 17 to soar into cinemas. A representative from Warner Bros. confirmed this shift in a statement.
Once the April 18 slot opened up, we promptly arranged it for ‘Mickey 17’. We’re overjoyed about the new date and can’t wait for the audience to experience the film in IMAX.
Critics have been critical towards Michael due to the numerous sexual abuse allegations against him, with the first surfacing as early as 1993. After the airing of the HBO documentary “Leaving Neverland,” which focused on his accusers, Michael Jackson has become a figure of posthumous controversy. Some anticipate that the biopic featuring his nephew, Jaafar Jackson, will present an impartial portrayal of the singer and his personal life, while others suspect that certain aspects of the King of Pop’s darker past may be omitted from the film.
Robert Pattinson Dies Multiple Times in Mickey 17
An examination of Robert Pattinson’s acting journey would be intriguing for anthropologists, given that most people recognize him as the protagonist vampire, Edward Cullen, from the Twilight series. However, many might forget that he also made a significant appearance in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Post his exit from Twilight, Robert Pattinson’s acting choices have effectively countered his stereotyping in films.
After Twilight, Robert Pattinson garnered independent acclaim for his leading role in Good Time, a movie he secured by sending an unsolicited email to the directors after catching a glimpse of their previous project. Since then, he has showcased his versatility in various roles, including the underappreciated sci-fi drama High Life, collaborating with Willem Dafoe in The Lighthouse, leading John David Washington through Tenet, voicing a character for Studio Ghibli’s The Boy and the Heron, and, not to forget, he’s now Batman!
With Robert Pattinson leading the way, the film Mickey 17 boasts an impressive ensemble of talented actors such as Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, Mark Ruffalo, Naomi Ackie, and Angus Imrie. Fans of Bong Joon-ho are excited to see him back in action on the silver screen since his exceptional work on Parasite, which garnered four Oscars in 2020, including the prestigious award for Best Picture of the Year – a historic first for a foreign language film.
