Sean Baker and Mikey Madison’s Palme d’Or Romance ‘Anora’ Debuts First Trailer

As a seasoned gamer and film enthusiast, I can’t help but be intrigued by the latest offering from director Sean Baker with his new film “Anora.” Having followed Baker’s career since his groundbreaking work on films like “Starlet” and “Tangerine,” I’ve come to expect thought-provoking narratives that challenge the status quo. The trailer for “Anora,” which stars Mikey Madison as the titular character, has me hooked.

The trailer for Sean Baker’s newest movie, “Anora,” which won the top honor at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, has been released for the first time.

Mikey Madison, recognized for her role in the FX show “Better Things,” takes on the title character. In this story, she portrays a New York prostitute who weds the offspring of a wealthy Russian businessman.

In the preview for the Neon film, Anora travels to Las Vegas where she enters a small, white chapel to marry, only to be followed by fixers attempting to disrupt their union. Throughout their journey, they enjoy extravagant nights out, travel via private jets, and shop for fur coats. The movie has been likened to the classic romantic comedy “Pretty Woman” featuring Julia Roberts.

Anora, Baker’s new work following Red Rocket, received rave reviews from critics at Cannes Film Festival and was awarded the Palme d’Or.

In the review by THR, Mikey Madison’s portrayal of Anora, or Ani, is described as having a charming sweetness that makes her relatable even in the most business-like situations. However, she also has a protective edge that becomes menacing when provoked. This character, who can be found alongside the strong-willed leads in Baker’s recent films such as “Starlet,” “Tangerine,” “The Florida Project,” and “Red Rocket.”

Anora will be released in theaters on October 18 via Neon.
