Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Legal Team Called Out by Feds for Consulting With Celebrity Attorney in Open Court

In the early stages of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ trial, the prosecution team has established their position following a letter to Judge Arun Subramanian about an open court consultation between Combs’ defense team and celebrity attorney Mark Geragos. Although not officially part of the defense team, Geragos is a legal media personality who hosts a podcast discussing this case.

In a letter submitted by U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton on Monday, it is pointed out to the judge that Mark Geragos, a well-known lawyer for celebrities and father of one of the defense team members, Teny Geragos, has not formally declared his involvement in the court case regarding Sean Combs (also known as Puff Daddy or Diddy), who faces charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transporting people to engage in prostitution. The letter also notes that Mr. Combs pleaded not guilty to all charges following his September arrest in New York.

As I sat there amidst the courtroom, I noticed a flurry of defense attorneys who had declared their presence for this case and a jury consultant. However, it was clear that during breaks or discussions, they were consulting with Mark Geragos and other lawyers from his firm, Geragos & Geragos, who were also present in court. In the latest episode, broadcasted just a day before the Combs trial started in Manhattan, Geragos discussed the case, the composition of the prosecution team, and, as suggested by an Apple Podcasts summary, shared insights on the expected defense and prosecutor’s strategy.

The defendant, visibly anxious, asked for a moment to step away, which the judge graciously allowed. This individual, a wealthy rap magnate, was apprehended in September and has been detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since then. On three separate occasions, he’s pleaded unsuccessfully for bail.

During their waiting period before being evaluated for impartiality in an upcoming trial, potential jurors were presented with a list of approximately 100 individuals and locations, some of which might be relevant to the court proceedings, according to NBC News. The names on this list range from Mike Myers and Michael B. Jordan to Kid Cudi and Kanye West. It is unknown at this time how these names are linked to the trial’s details, aside from Kid Cudi who was allegedly a victim of a car bombing that was reportedly ordered by Combs while he was dating his former girlfriend.
