The gathering unites the realms of charitable giving and the entertainment industry for a discussion about groundbreaking concepts and honors trailblazers who significantly influence global change. The Hollywood Reporter and the Social Impact Fund organized this occasion.

Olympic gold medalist Allyson Felix participated in a discussion titled “Who’s in Charge? Pioneers in Women’s Health and Well-being,” delving into topics such as physical health, mental health, reproductive health, and the health of Black mothers.
She explained the difficulties she encountered when giving birth to her child, which deepened her understanding of maternal mortality rates in the United States.
She shared, “My daughter arrived two months premature, and she needed to stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for a month. Additionally, I suffered from a severe form of preeclampsia. At the time, I was unaware of the critical state of maternal health care in America. When I delved into research, I realized that this issue did not discriminate – it didn’t matter if I was an Olympian or at the peak of my physical fitness. Despite being in the best shape possible, I still found myself battling for both our lives in a hospital. This experience underscores just how significant and widespread this problem is.
Legend received the title of Philanthropist of the Year, an honor bestowed upon him for his efforts in promoting equality and criminal justice reform.
In his address, Legend likewise touched upon the present political atmosphere, voicing disapproval towards the Trump administration’s immigration policies.
Our authorities are secretly detaining and vanishing our acquaintances in our own community, such as childcare providers at local parks, while simultaneously taking control of our streets to suppress the cries of those expressing their democratic freedoms. Our government is unjustly taking money away from the most impoverished children within our neighborhoods, instead funneling it towards the rich. This pattern repeats day after day, as our administration disregards the shared principles that have motivated us to strive for excellence: To symbolize a beacon for humanity, to represent hope for the weary, of those seeking refuge from adversity and longing for liberty. In addition to the corruption, cruelty, malice, and seemingly unpunished actions, the culprits are the ones we chose to lead us. The ones who pledged to safeguard this institution, to defend its people, its constitution, and the rule of law.
In his victory speech, he expressed gratitude for the role his family played in inspiring him to persist in the pursuit of justice.
Redemption can occur; it’s not a certainty, but it can happen through grace. My loved ones – Chrissy, Luna, Miles, Esti, Wren – are the names that make my life meaningful with faith, hope, and love. The Bible tells us that love is the greatest of these. Love has the power to drive everything we do. Everything we strive for, and seeing and loving my children reminds me why I continue to fight for their future, our future.”

After delivering his speech, the Legend Foundation received a grant of $25,000 from Craig Cichy, the executive director of the Social Impact Fund.
Noted labor activist Dolores Huerta recently featured on the panel “Secure the Neighborhood: Defending Community Interests.” In her discussion, she expressed concerns about the current challenges facing American democracy and advocated for immediate actions by citizens to safeguard their liberties.
By stepping up as organizers and advocates, we can shoulder this responsibility and be vocal in sharing messages of encouragement that are essential right now,” Huerta expressed. “We’re at a pivotal point, a critical juncture where our democracy is under threat. Let’s ensure that everyone around us – family, friends, communities, and organizations – understands this urgency. It’s crucial that we all participate to preserve our democracy.
After the discussion, she guided the attendees through an interactive Q&A where they chanted “Yes, we can” as a finale.
Following the talk, she facilitated an audience-participation exercise that climaxed with everyone shouting “Si, se puede.”

However, our primary focus is on securing funds. When we do have funds, I believe we excel at identifying and supporting community leaders, or those with potential to become leaders. I think we manage our finances effectively.
