Sebastian Stan, Leo Woodall to Star in True-Life Thriller ‘Burning Rainbow Farm’

Actor Sebastian Stan, who is currently featured in Marvel’s “Thunderbolts” and garnered attention as Leo Woodall in season two of “White Lotus,” will join forces with director Justin Kurzel for the upcoming true-life thriller, titled “Burning Rainbow Farm.

The upcoming Cannes Film Festival will see Rocket Science unveil their project to potential global investors. Meanwhile, CAA Media Finance is in charge of distributing the film’s rights across North America.

According to the sales firm, the movie “Burning Rainbow” recounts the real-life events of Tom Crosslin and Rollie Rohm, a gay couple residing in rural Michigan. They established a tranquil marijuana community known as Rainbow Farm. However, their actions led to conflicts with local law enforcement, resulting in the removal of their child. This situation escalated into one of the most significant and dramatic standoffs between police and the FBI that America has witnessed. In this film, Stan portrays Crosslin, while Woodall takes on the role of Rohm.

Tommy Murphy, author of “Holding The Man” and “Significant Others”, crafted the screenplay from the book by Dean Kuipers. This event transpired in the year 2001, but was eclipsed by the happenings of September 11th only a few days later.

The production is handled by a team consisting of Nicole O’Donohue, Kurzel, and Alexandra Taussig from Thirdborn, along with Adam Shulman of Anonymous Content, Alix Madigan of Mad Dog Films, and Justin Lothrop and Brent Stiefel of Votiv.

Burning Rainbow tells the tale of two unique individuals who defy hatred and proudly proclaim, ‘This is us, and we challenge you to try and change that.’ As I embark on this journey, I am thrilled to bring to life these endearing and brave characters alongside Sebastian and Leo. Their relationship will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression.

Director Kurzel has experience with real-life narratives, having recently created the critically acclaimed thriller “The Order“, a chilling tale of white supremacist activities as domestic terrorism in the 1980s featuring Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult.

The tale has been a source of fascination for movie-makers over the past few years, having previously been associated with Lenny Abrahamson, who directed “Room”.

Stan, who received outstanding praise for his performance as Donald Trump in ‘The Apprentice’ the previous year, is represented by Creative Artists Agency (CAA), Brookside Artist Management, and Sloane Offer.

This year, Woodall, who previously acted alongside Renee Zellweger in “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy,” is represented by multiple talent agencies including William Morris Endeavor (WME), Hamilton Hodell, Anonymous Content, and Goodman Genow.

Kurzel is managed by HLA Management and Sloane Offer, whereas Murphy is handled by Cameron’s Management and Range Media.
