Sebastian Stan has become one of the highly sought-after and admired actors in Hollywood, a status he didn’t hold prior to his involvement with Marvel.
Stan confided in Vanity Fair that he faced difficulties at work prior to landing the role of Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger.

Stan remembered that he had received a call from his business manager moments ago, who informed him that he had been unexpectedly granted $65,000 through royalties from the movie ‘Hot Tub Time Machine‘,” Stan recounted.
It’s fortunate that Blaine, the ski-patrol enforcer with a bit of a bully reputation, played a significant part in the story. (By the way, Stan had already appeared in 11 episodes of Gossip Girl before this point.)

It’s lucky for the plot that Blaine, the somewhat intimidating ski-patrol officer, was involved. (It’s worth noting that by then, Stan had featured in 11 episodes of Gossip Girl.)
In “Hot Tub Time Machine,” John Cusack, Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, and Clark Duke star as a quartet who inadvertently leap into 1986 via a hot tub. Their mission? Figuring out how to get back to 2010. Supporting actors include Crispin Glover, Lizzy Caplan, and Chevy Chase. Notably, Crispin Glover is well-versed in time travel, having appeared in the “Back to the Future” series.
Stan’s life, which was always lived on the edge of financial instability, was merely a brief soak in a hot tub for him. Subsequently, he took on the role of Barnes/Winter Soldier in the movies like “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” (2014), “Captain America: Civil War” (2016), “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018) and “Avengers: Endgame” (2019). It’s also worth mentioning that he was unaccredited for his contributions to 2015’s “Ant-Man”, 2018’s “Black Panther” and the future release, “Captain America: Brave New World” in 2025.
Stan’s recurring role was once more as a co-star in the TV series, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” (2021), and Bucky made another appearance in “What If…”.
Apart from that, he’s set to lend his voice to a video game as well. This year, you’ll find him in the movie “Thunderbolts,” and the following year, he’ll appear in “Avengers: Endgame.
We’re willing to bet Stan made a bit more than $65,000 off of all that.
As a gamer, I’m not one to compromise on my craft – I’m always pushing the boundaries of my creativity. I stepped into the shoes of Tommy Lee in ‘Pam & Tommy’, took on the role of a young Donald Trump in ‘The Apprentice’, and led the cast of A24’s ‘A Different Man’. Each of these roles showcased my talent, and more importantly, my willingness to take risks. My skills have been acknowledged for each of these performances.
It’s clear from his decisions that he’s not afraid to take bold steps. When the Trump movie was circulating, I recall pondering who would dare to accept such a role, given its complexities. And I must admit, I wasn’t taken aback when I learned it was Sebastian,” Chris Evans, Captain America alongside Stan’s Winter Soldier, shared with the magazine, implying his expectations were met.
Stan received an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Trump in the leading role category; he also got nominated for an Emmy for his depiction as the Mötley Crüe drummer. Additionally, Stan was nominated for a Golden Globe for both roles, ultimately winning the award for A Different Man under the best performance by a male actor in a motion picture, musical or comedy category.
