The trailer looks breathtakingly beautiful, and the prospect of original short stories set within the worlds of some of my favorite games is beyond exciting.
Amazon’s Prime Video has revealed the trailer for “Secret Level,” an upcoming anthology series based on video games, produced by the team behind “Love & Robots.” During the Gamescom Opening Night Live broadcast, Prime Video premiered the trailer for this series that will present unique short tales within the realms of well-known video games such as “Mega Man,” “PAC-MAN,” “God of War,” “Warhammer,” and numerous others. The series is scheduled to debut on December 10, 2024, on Prime Video.
The “Secret Level” game was created by film director Tim Miller and his production company, Blur Studios. While Miller may be recognized for directing 2016’s “Deadpool,” Blur Studios has a rich background in video game development, having contributed to projects such as “Star Wars: The Old Republic,” “Dark Souls II,” and “Batman: Arkham Knight.” Notably, Blur Studios is also the brainchild behind the critically acclaimed Netflix series “Love, Death & Robots.” Amazon MGM Studios’ head of television, Vernon Sanders, recently discussed the upcoming series with Deadline.

Bringing The World of Video Games to a Short Story Format
A significant number of titles showcased in “Secret Level” are either currently being or have been adapted for various productions. For instance, “Dungeons & Dragons” had the well-received film “Honor Among Thieves” in 2023. As for “Mega Man”, a Netflix movie was in development as of 2021, but there’s been no recent updates on that project. “Warhammer” enthusiast Henry Cavill is attempting to establish a cinematic universe, with Amazon Prime Video also involved, and it’s possible that “Secret Level” could serve as the demonstration for this concept. The potentially intriguing aspect might be Kratos from the “God of War” video game franchise, who may appear in a PlayStation highlight episode, given that Amazon Prime Video is also working on a “God of War” television series.
After the disappointing box office performance of Borderlands, which was notably reshot by Tim Miller, video game adaptations are eagerly seeking a success to regain their footing. The month of December appears promising in this regard, as Secret Levels is set to premiere on Prime Video, followed by the theater release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on December 20, 2024. Tim Miller is also a producer on Sonic the Hedgehog 3, suggesting a prosperous holiday season for him. If the series Love & Robots serves as an indicator, Secret Level promises to deliver enchanting short films that vividly bring these cherished games to life in creative and thrilling manners.
