See Shawn Mendes Pause His Concert To Pay Tribute To Liam Payne Following His Death

As a long-time fan and admirer of both Liam Payne and Shawn Mendes, I found myself deeply moved by Mendes’ heartfelt tribute during his recent concert. Having grown up with One Direction and watching their journey unfold, it was truly touching to see the bond between fellow artists who shared the same passion for music.

Fans and singers in the pop music sphere were heartbroken upon hearing the news of Liam Payne’s untimely demise at the age of 31. Now, a few days following this tragic event, Shawn Mendes took a pause during his concert to honor his fellow artist.

At Shawn Mendes’ concert in Brooklyn, New York on October 18 (two days following Payne’s death), he paused to express his feelings regarding the loss. Visibly moved, the “Mercy” singer expressed his affection for the ex-member of One Direction and dedicated the song “Heart of Gold” to him.

You can see the full emotional moment below in the video posted to X by @TheSMendesUpdt:

In the video, it was evident that Mendes displayed strong emotions, pausing frequently between his statements as he delivered his complete speech. Here is the transcript of his entire address:

Upon learning about Liam’s news, we were utterly heartbroken, as I had the chance to speak with him a couple of times. Liam was an extraordinary individual, and his eyes sparkled with a radiance that revealed his inner beauty. This is about mourning those who are gone, shedding tears, but also about honoring them for who they were and the impact they made on this world. I’d like to take a moment to express my deepest sympathies to him, wherever he may be now. The world grieves with you, Liam, and we are all praying for your son and family. We miss you dearly, friend. So, this is dedicated to you tonight, Liam, from us all.

After that, he proceeded to play his song “Heart of Gold” in honor of Payne.

More to come…
