Selena Gomez Set to Guest Star Again in ‘Wizards Beyond Waverly Place’ Season 2

Selena Gomez is picking up her wand again.

This fall, Selena Gomez will once again take up her character as Alex Russo in the continuation of Wizards of Waverly Place, titled Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. In the original series, the Russo siblings – Alex (Gomez), Justin (David Henrie) and Max (Jake T. Austin) – were taught to harness their magical abilities by their ordinary father, Jerry (David DeLuise). The show aired on Disney Channel from 2007-2012 for four seasons. In the final episode, Alex emerged victorious in the family wizard contest and acquired all of the family’s magical powers.

In October 2024, the spinoff titled “The Spinoff” debuted on both Disney Channel and Disney+. This series featured Gomez’s co-star from the original series, Henrie, as the main cast member. The storyline revolves around Justin grappling with the concept of mortality. As Alex introduces him to a young trainee wizard named Billie (portrayed by Janice LeAnn Brown), Justin finds himself in a position to lend a helping hand. During its first season, Gomez made appearances in two episodes.

On Thursday, the multi-talented artist shared a picture of herself grasping a wand and captioned it “Just feels right” on her Instagram story, indicating her upcoming return to the spinoff.

Billie finds herself questioning the complexities of being part of the Russo family as she realizes there are now more wizards in the household. With Roman (Alkaio Thiele) and Milo (Max Matenko) gaining new magical abilities, Justin is assigned the responsibility of training three novice wizards for the Family Wizard Competition. As tensions escalate both within and outside the family, a hidden danger surfaces – one that has the potential to dismantle the Russo family entirely.

Todd Greenwald is the one who brought to life the show called “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place“. Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas hold the roles of both writers and executive producers for this series. Additionally, Gomez, Henrie, Gary Marsh, and Jonas Agin are also credited as executive producers.

Season two premieres this fall on Disney+ and Disney Channel.
