Fans of “The Sex Lives of College Girls” were aware that a main cast member, Renee Rapp, would not return for Season 3, with new characters stepping in to fill the gap. Overall, the creative team delivered on making the college girls’ latest raunchy escapades as awkwardly entertaining as anticipated, giving Ilia Isorelýs Paulino’s character, Lila, more screen time. However, throughout the entire season, there was a recurring problem that surfaced in almost every episode, and it must be resolved if the show is renewed for Season 4.

My Main Concern: The extensive and conspicuous use of Automated Dialogue Replacement (ADR) in the series “The Sex Lives of College Girls” frequently interrupted otherwise engaging scenes, causing me to ponder the reasons behind these late changes. While it might seem pedantic, I’m taken aback if I encounter such a high volume of ADR instances throughout the 2025 television lineup.

Before jumping to conclusions, let’s clarify what ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement) is all about. Essentially, it refers to the process of re-recording dialogues that were originally recorded on set but are found unsuitable for use in the final film. It’s worth mentioning that Action Response Dialogue (ADR) recordings often incorporate various noises like grunts, breaths, sighs, and other sounds that aren’t direct dialogue, which are more commonly found in action-packed scenes. I Don’t Get Why Sex Lives Of College Girls Season 3 Had So Many ADR-ed Moments

In many instances throughout Season 3 of “The Sex Lives of College Girls,” viewers find themselves observing the back of a main character’s head while they tell a joke, an anomaly where the audio seems dissimilar to anything else in the scene. This discrepancy is particularly noticeable during boisterous party scenes, making it seem as though the characters are speaking from inside a car trunk rather than amidst the chaos of a rowdy frat house celebration.

It seems that Amrit Kaur’s Bela is usually the main source of trouble, as far as I can recall, but she wasn’t the only one to blame. This situation leaves me curious about the event that led to so many lines becoming ineffective.

Absolutely, I get the importance of Automatic Dialogue Replacement (ADR) in certain situations, particularly when there’s background noise that could interfere with the dialogue clarity. At times, an actor’s microphone may capture sounds that don’t align with the intended audio mix, or dialogue might become indistinct. In some cases, entire sequences might require altered audio because it’s economically impractical to reshoot scenes.

It’s quite frequent in the show “Sex Lives of College Girls” for certain events to occur, so I’m not sure if the issue was simply poor audio quality. In comedies like this one, Additional Dialogue Recording (ADR) is often used to adapt revised storylines or alternative jokes. Therefore, it’s plausible that different story arcs might have been initially planned for Bela and other characters, necessitating re-edits due to last-minute changes in the plot?

Although it seems unlikely, given that most of the humor seemed to be light-hearted and humorous rather than significant plot points, such as Bela’s reaction to a male character’s physique in the image above. It’s hard to believe that numerous jokes from Season 3 were poorly executed that they needed revisions through Automated Dialogue Replacement (ADR). Perhaps we can chalk it up to the 2023 strikes instead.
