As a long-time follower of Bollywood and a passionate fan of Alia Bhatt, I can’t help but empathize with her experiences while working on Shaandaar. The pressure of dancing alongside Shahid Kapoor, one of India’s most talented dancers, must have been daunting for any actress.
Today marks the 9th anniversary of the film “Shaandaar,” starring Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. One of its standout tracks, “Gulaabo,” remains a favorite among fans. Looking back on this journey, Alia Bhatt admitted she was quite ‘nervous’ about dancing with Shahid, as she knew she had to match his energy. At one point, the pressure became so intense that it brought her to tears.
At the premiere for the song “Gulaabo”, Alia Bhatt shared her thoughts on dancing alongside Shahid Kapoor, a highly skilled dancer in Bollywood. She confessed that she felt quite nervous about keeping pace with his flawless steps, particularly as it was their first dance performance together.
Regardless of her diligent work, she felt the weight of the situation becoming unbearable at times and ended up shedding tears. She admitted, “I was incredibly anxious as I was scheduled to dance with Shahid. He possesses just 10% of his dancing abilities on stage, making him look fantastic. So, I had to measure up to him. I put in a tremendous amount of effort. At one point, I couldn’t hold back my emotions and cried.
As a devoted follower, I’d like to share an amusing comment made by choreographer Bosco about me – he playfully observed that my feet bear a striking resemblance to those of a penguin. However, I must give credit to my dance partner, Shahid, for being incredibly supportive throughout our challenging routine. He has been instrumental in helping me navigate the complex moves and steps.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, let me share an intriguing anecdote from the Bollywood world: In the lively tune “Gulaabo,” I found myself dancing alongside my sister, Sanah Kapoor, who happens to be my half-sibling. It was quite a shock when I discovered she was involved in the film’s making – a secret that remained hidden until we shared the silver screen together!
Director Vikas Bahl selected Sanah to play a role following an introduction through casting director Mukesh Chhabra. This was surprising news to Shahid as it turned out that Sanah would portray Alia Bhatt’s on-screen sister in the movie. It’s worth noting that Shahid himself commented that Alia and Sanah share a stronger resemblance as if they were actual siblings, rather than him and Sanah.
Shaandaar is a delightful romantic comedy directed by Vikas Bahl that unfolds against the backdrop of an extravagant wedding celebration. Shahid Kapoor plays Jagjinder Joginder, a unique wedding organizer who finds himself smitten with the bride’s sister, portrayed by Alia Bhatt. The film is praised for its lively and whimsical cinematography as well as its unconventional narrative style.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but extol the brilliance of Shaandaar, bolstered by the robust backing of Pankaj Kapur and Sanjay Kapoor. The film sparkles with its opulent wedding sequences and an infectious soundtrack masterfully crafted by Amit Trivedi, further enhancing its delightful whimsy.
