Three popular Bollywood actors – Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff – have found themselves in a legal predicament due to their endorsements for a Pan Masala brand. The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum based in Jaipur has issued summons to these celebrities, along with the chairman of JB Industries, the company behind the Pan Masala brand. They have been asked to appear in court on March 19, 2025.
According to The Times of India’s report, several Bollywood stars have received notifications about a potentially deceptive ad for pan masala, which suggests that every grain includes saffron. It should be noted that TopMob has yet to confirm this claim independently.
In simpler terms, the advertisement uses the phrase, “Each grain carries the might of saffron,” which was suggested by Consumer Forum Chairperson Gyarsilal Meena and Member Hemlata Agarwal in response to a complaint filed by Jaipur resident Yogendra Singh Badiyal.
In the grievance expressed within the complaint, it was asserted that an ad showcasing Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff misleadingly suggests that the pan masala product they endorse includes saffron, which is untrue.
The person making the appeal highlighted that saffron sells for roughly 400,000 rupees per kilogram, whereas a pouch of pan masala containing tobacco is priced at only 5 rupees. Given this situation, it’s not feasible to even consider adding saffron; its scent alone can’t be considered. According to The Times of India, these were the words of the petitioner.
As a devoted follower, I’d like to express my concern that the advertising in question appears to be misleading, intentionally enticing more individuals to buy the pan masala and tobacco bundle, which in turn seemingly escalates the manufacturer’s earnings.
As a devoted supporter, I’m compelled to express that the accusation levied against the actors alleged they were disseminating misleading information. Specifically, it was claimed they backed the assertion that each particle in the pan masala is tinged with saffron.
Furthermore, it’s claimed that although the manufacturer is making millions of rupees through this business, ordinary citizens may be unknowingly jeopardizing their health and potentially developing illnesses such as cancer by using the combined product of pan masala and tobacco.
The accuser asserted that in this specific context, the ad falsely implied it had saffron, deceiving the general public. Badiyal urged for legal measures against those responsible for disseminating such “misinformation,” calling for an immediate stop to these deceptive ads.
