Shah Rukh Khan opens up about his self-imposed hiatus after Zero; REVEALS Siddharth Anand had Pathaan title ‘for the last 15-20 years’

As a devoted fan of Shah Rukh Khan, I find his unconventional approach to his career utterly captivating. His decision to take a break from leading roles wasn’t driven by the success or failure of his films, but rather by his innate passion and organic connection to acting. It’s fascinating to see such an iconic figure in Bollywood make decisions based on personal feelings instead of commercial pressures.

Shah Rukh Khan’s distinguished acting career features numerous blockbusters that went on to be timeless classics. However, there have been a few films, such as the 2018 release Zero, which did not perform well commercially. Following the comedy-drama alongside Anushka Sharma, the cinematic titan temporarily stepped away from starring in any film but made guest appearances in several others. In an interview with Variety, he opened up about his break.

In simpler terms, Shah Rukh Khan explained that his recent break wasn’t due to any issues with movies. Instead, he expressed that he has always believed in taking a step back when he no longer feels motivated to work each morning. He emphasized that the struggles of his films were not the reason for this hiatus.

SRK shared that one day without warning, he contacted the film’s producer and informed him that he wouldn’t be working for a year, acknowledging it was “unprofessional” since he had committed to the project in January but made the call in December. Expanding on the situation, the actor known as Pathan explained that the producer was taken aback because no one had ever taken a full year off before. Therefore, he clarified that if the producer didn’t approve of the movie, he could just decline it instead.

After a year and a half had elapsed, the movie’s producer, who was its financier, phoned SRK and expressed astonishment at his inactivity. ” frankly, I didn’t feel like working or acting,” King Khan admitted, explaining that he found acting to be quite natural for him.

During the same interview, the actor discussed his action thriller movie, titled Pathaan, which marked his return to the silver screen after a hiatus. He shared that director Siddharth Anand had been holding onto the title for approximately 15-20 years. Additionally, he reminisced about Sid telling him that if he ever directed a film named Pathaan, it would feature the actor or else it wouldn’t be made at all.

As an ardent admirer, I can confidently say that when the contract for 2023’s blockbuster Jawan was swiftly inked in just fifteen minutes, it felt like destiny. This movie, a captivating South Indian film genre I hadn’t explored before, was a thrilling challenge I couldn’t resist. With these two unexplored territories now under my belt, I dived right in.
