As a dedicated follower of the enchanting world of Indian cinema, I find myself captivated by the heartwarming stories that unfold behind the scenes. The recent reminiscences of actor Rushad Rana about his experiences on sets like Veer-Zaara and Mohabbatein have left me spellbound.
Actor Rushad Rana, well-known for his appearances in hit movies such as Veer-Zaara, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, and Mohabbatein, has recently offered behind-the-scenes glimpses of these productions. He affectionately recounted an instance where Shah Rukh Khan recognized him from Mohabbatein despite the fact that he was in a supporting role during Veer-Zaara’s filming. However, he openly admitted that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Preity Zinta seemed to disregard him and his fellow actors, instead appearing to ‘see straight through us’.
During a recent chat with Siddharth Kannan, Rushad Rana fondly recollected his emotional meeting with Shah Rukh Khan on the set of Veer-Zaara, looking back at their camaraderie during Mohabbatein. Interestingly, although Rushad wasn’t one of the principal characters in Mohabbatein, he was delighted when SRK remembered him.
He reminded Aditya Chopra about the initial day of filming Veer-Zaara when Shah Rukh Khan, with excitement, mentioned that Rushad was part of Mohabbatein. He stated, “When I met him for Veer-Zaara, he recalled me from Mohabbatein. I wasn’t even among the three main characters in Mohabbatein, but he still managed to recognize me.” (Paraphrased version)
Initially, Shah Rukh Khan didn’t recognize Rushad, but after being introduced, Rushad shared his joy at being remembered. In an endearing turn of events, instead of using his name, Shah Rukh affectionately referred to him as ‘partner’. Recalling their introduction, Rushad said, “He told me, ‘Of course, I remember you. But I won’t call you Rushad; I will call you partner.’ So, during the filming of Veer-Zaara, Shah Rukh often addressed me as partner. What a man!
In the movie Mohabbatein, along with stars Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Shah Rukh Khan, a group of new actors who were yet to make their mark in the industry also starred. These included Uday Chopra, Jugal Hansraj, Shamita Shetty, Jimmy Shergill, Preeti Jhangiani, and Kim Sharma.
Personally, I’ve been absolutely thrilled about Rushad Rana’s recent projects! Most recently, I caught him in Ulajh, where he shared the screen with the brilliant Janhvi Kapoor. Sadly, the movie didn’t quite strike a chord with audiences at the box office. On a brighter note, I also got to see him make a guest appearance on everyone’s favorite daily soap, Anupamaa. Truly, he never ceases to amaze me!
