As a devoted fan who’s spent countless hours rewinding and rewatching scenes from Bollywood classics like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and Mohabbatein, I can’t help but be captivated by the anecdotes that come to light about these iconic films. Nikkhil Advani, a man who’s worked closely with the legendary Shah Rukh Khan, has shared some fascinating behind-the-scenes stories, and it’s like getting a peek into the magical world of Bollywood.
As an ardent admirer looking back, I can’t help but share a fascinating tidbit about Nikkhil Advani’s tenure as assistant director for Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. In a recent interview, he disclosed a behind-the-scenes anecdote involving the legendary Shah Rukh Khan, who made a dramatic helicopter entrance in the film. It seems that SRK was initially under the impression that he needed to leap from the helicopter while greeting his on-screen mother. However, it turned out differently as he simply stepped out of the helicopter instead, much to his relief.
Fans continue to recall Shah Rukh Khan’s memorable scene from the movie as he made a grand entrance. However, in an interview on Cyrus Says’ YouTube channel, the director shared that King Khan had an idea for his entry, but it didn’t materialize as planned, leaving him disappointed.
He explained, “When we informed him that his role in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham involved getting off a helicopter. He believed it meant jumping from the helicopter instead, when in reality, he only needed to step out. The scene primarily focused on Jaya Bachchan discovering her son’s arrival upon his touching ground.
Apart from that, Nikkhil has collaborated on-screen with a major star in movies such as “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” and “Mohabbatein”. Interestingly enough, Nikkhil was the director for the successful 2003 film “Kal Ho Naa Ho”, where they worked together again.
In the world of Bollywood, these numerous romantic movies significantly contributed to Khan being crowned as the ‘Ruler of Romance’. Yet, off-camera, Khan has shared that he’s been eager to explore other movie genres or characters, and surprisingly, he isn’t a big fan of love stories.
Besides KSG, he narrated a story from the movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and disclosed that Shah Rukh Khan was actually the one who designed the well-known basketball scene in the film, where the characters ‘Rahul’ and ‘Anjali’ were first presented to the viewers.
As a result, the actor received recognition for his work on the thrilling basketball sequence in the movie’s credits. He explained that he approached the scene as if it were an action sequence during the filming of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which is why he got credit for it.
In terms of upcoming projects, Shah Rukh Khan is set to appear in a movie titled “King,” directed by Sujoy Ghosh. This is unique because for the very first time, he’ll be acting alongside his daughter, Suhana Khan, on screen.
