Shah Rukh Khan’s Yes Boss director Aziz Mirza reveals how superstar fulfilled THIS extraordinary promise to wife Gauri Khan; says, ‘Made the dream a reality…’

To countless admirers, Shah Rukh Khan’s residence, Mannat, symbolizes dreams realized rather than merely being a house. Over the last twenty years, this impressive mansion in Mumbai’s Bandra Bandstand has drawn visitors from across the nation, making it one of the city’s most popular attractions. However, few are aware that Mannat was once an elusive aspiration for a young Shah Rukh Khan.

As a dedicated follower of Shah Rukh’s career, I’m sharing some fascinating insights about his connection with Mannat, his beloved home. It was back in 1997, during the filming of the song Chaand Taare for Yes Boss, that Shah Rukh filmed scenes outside a property that would eventually be his own. At that time, this house was under the ownership of the Bai Khorshed Bhanu Sanjana Trust.

In an interview with Radio Nasha, Aziz Mirza shared a heartwarming tale about Shah Rukh Khan. Back then, SRK used to reside at Mirza’s residence named Devdoot, located near Mannat. He and his wife Gauri were young and brimming with aspirations. They frequently took leisurely walks, and it’s likely that during one of these strolls, SRK promised her he would purchase that house someday. Life was generous to him, allowing him to eventually make good on that promise.

Mirza remembered vividly that during filming at Café Seaside, Shah Rukh gestured towards his residence Mannat and enthusiastically declared, “Aziz, I’ve purchased that property!” Acquiring it wasn’t straightforward, as Shah Rukh encountered various hurdles such as dealing with municipal regulations and disputes with adjacent properties. However, he successfully navigated through all the difficulties and finally turned his aspiration into a tangible reality.

It’s intriguing to note that upon buying their house, Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan originally called it Jannat, which means “Paradise”. However, in 2005, they decided to rename it Mannat, a name that poetically symbolizes the fulfillment of a heartfelt desire.

Currently, Mannat’s estimated net worth exceeds 200 crores INR. Lately, the Khan family vacated their famous residence for extensive renovations and relocated to a high-end apartment complex in Bandra. They have taken two duplex apartments on lease from producer Vashu Bhagnani. The monthly rent for these properties is said to be approximately 24 lakhs INR, amounting to roughly 2.9 crores INR annually across four floors.
