Shazam Star Zachary Levi Endorses Donald Trump for President: 'We're Going to Take Back This Country'

As someone who grew up in a Christian conservative family, I can understand where Zachary Levi is coming from. His parents instilled in him a healthy skepticism towards both government and industry, which has undoubtedly shaped his political views. It’s fascinating to see how these early lessons have led him to support a former U.S. president who was convicted of a crime.

Actor Zachary Levi, who has gained prominence in the last few years for playing the lead role in the Shazam films, expressed his support for a previous U.S. president during a rally in November. He shared that one of the most important lessons his parents instilled in him was to be wary of the government, and subsequently endorsed the first ex-president to face criminal charges. I was raised by a family who identified as Christian conservatives. Politically, we largely adhered to this ideology. My parents started off as Kennedy Democrats but later transformed into Reagan Republicans. They instilled in me a balanced sense of skepticism towards the government and corporations that overstep their boundaries.

Prior to backing Donald Trump, Levi had been openly expressing his allegiance towards Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Despite Kennedy’s famous family name recognition, he never managed to pose a significant threat and never qualified for a debate. Eventually, he withdrew from the race and lent his support to Trump. However, Kennedy is still listed on the ballot in certain states, including Michigan, where Levi delivered his speech.

Levi spoke about that past support, explaining that RFK Jr. was everything he looked for in a candidate, but since this isn’t a “perfect world,” he can’t be the president. He then shifted gears and offered his endorsement to Trump.

We’re committed to restoring our nation, making it thrive once more, and revitalizing its health. That’s why I support Bobby, Tulsi, and anyone else who backs President Trump, because among the two options available, I firmly believe that President Trump is the leader who can lead us to success.

Zachary Levi’s Career Has Been Rocky of Late

Zachary Levi’s first Shazam film was a hit, but it was released during a different phase in the DCEU. The series started losing popularity soon after, and its sequel, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, turned out to be one of the biggest box office disappointments in 2023. However, it’s important to note that not all of this failure can be attributed to Levi alone, as the entire universe faced a similar decline before being revamped by James Gunn. Consequently, it seems unlikely that Levi will return to play the DC superhero, as only a few actors have been asked back for the rebooted DCU.

After starring in “Shazam”, Levi then featured in the newest addition to the “Spy Kids” series, titled “Spy Kids: Armageddon”. This movie got a mix of responses and didn’t have a traditional box office run since it was exclusively released on Netflix. Additionally, he provided voice acting for “Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget”, another Netflix-exclusive production. While it didn’t garner massive acclaim, it did receive positive feedback from both critics and viewers. In 2023, however, Levi faced criticism due to his controversial remarks concerning the SAG-AFTRA strike.

In the year 2024, Levi’s sole release was a movie version of the children’s book “Harold and the Purple Crayon.” This film, which brought in $28.4 million at the box office despite a production budget of $40 million, stirred up quite a bit of debate among both fans and critics. Moving forward, Levi has two more films lined up: “The Unbreakable Boy” set for release in 2025, and a work-in-progress titled “Not Without Hope.” It remains to be seen whether this string of releases will impact his career positively or negatively.
