As a movie reviewer, I must say that the third season of Ginny & Georgia on Netflix delved deep into the reasons behind Paul Randolph’s (Scott Porter) abrupt departure from his wife, Georgia Miller (Brianne Howey), during their fairytale wedding and amidst his house arrest and ongoing trial. This gripping drama series skillfully unfolded the aftermath of Georgia’s arrest for the murder of Tom Fuller (Vincent Legault), an incident that occurred right on their big day, casting a dark shadow over their marital bliss.
In the series, it is Paul who shows the most consistency and comprehension towards Georgia’s circumstances among her admirers. Currently serving as the mayor of Wellsbury, Massachusetts, he was ultimately chosen by Georgia to be her spouse, despite a brief period when Zion (Georgia’s first love and Ginny’s biological father) seemed to potentially jeopardize their relationship.
Yet, the blissful future of Georgia and Paul was shattered in Season 3 of “Ginny and Georgia,” due to some rash decisions made by Georgia herself.
So Why Does Paul Leave Georgia?
The third season of “Ginny & Georgia” commenced with Georgia being incarcerated, and Paul went to great lengths to secure her release before it was too late. Fortunately, he engaged a highly skilled attorney, while Georgia employed her charms on the judge to be granted bail and placed under home confinement instead.
Before their wedding, Georgia confessed her troubled history to Paul, yet neglected to mention her role in the deaths of two ex-partners and more recently, Tom Fuller’s murder. This revelation left Paul doubting his decision regarding Georgia, wondering if she is truly innocent. Adding to his confusion was Nick, Paul’s assistant, sharing some of Georgia’s hidden secrets. Nevertheless, Paul chose to stand by her regardless.
Nevertheless, Paul’s wife Georgia’s arrest significantly tarnished his image as Mayor of Wellsbury. The townsfolk began questioning his judgement, given that private investigator Gabriel Cordova had labeled her a serial killer during the trial (for reasons why he chose to testify against Georgia, delve deeper into the story in Ginny and Georgia Season 3).
Given that Paul was struggling under the stress and seemed about to lose his position as mayor, Georgia took an imprudent action by falsifying a pregnancy. She manipulated a positive pregnancy test belonging to Ginny, using it to convince Paul that she was carrying their child. For a brief period, this deception kept Paul with Georgia, but eventually, he uncovered her deceit and left her permanently. To add salt to the wound, Paul also filed for a public divorce from Georgia in an attempt to restore his standing among the citizens of Wellsbury.
According to the events, it was Georgia who bore responsibility for what transpired, as her desperate attempt to keep him caused Paul to choose to depart from her instead.
Will Paul Return in Ginny & Georgia Season 4?
Despite permanently departing from Georgia in “Ginny and Georgia” Season 3, Paul Randolph’s narrative takes an unexpected turn, largely due to the shocking revelation at the end that Georgia is indeed expecting a child (not just pretending this time).
As someone who’s deeply into movies, if I were to rephrase the sentence from Georgia’s perspective, it might go like this: “Since I was involved with both Paul and Joe (Raymond Ablack) before learning the truth, they are strong contenders as potential fathers of my child.
In Season 4 of “Ginny and Georgia,” we might delve deeper into how Georgia manages the revelation of her pregnancy, possibly attempting to authentically prove it to Paul this time. It’s worth noting that persuading Paul, given his skepticism, could be quite a challenge. Interestingly, if successful, reuniting with Georgia (following his acquittal) might bring significant benefits for Paul’s mayorship.
In other words, the paternity of Georgia’s baby remains uncertain, given that Paul’s former spouse may have developed feelings for Joe.
