Shraddha Kapoor admits people on her debut film Teen Patti sets were not ‘very nice’; reveals having breakdown: ‘If you were a somebody…’

As a dedicated follower of Shraddha Kapoor‘s career, I have always been captivated by her journey from struggling actress to Bollywood star. Her recent success with Stree 2 is just another testament to her resilience and determination. However, it was not an easy road for her, as she bravely faced the harsh realities of the film industry during her early days.

Actress Shraddha Kapoor has left audiences spellbound with her latest movie, Stree 2. Amid the celebration of her newfound success, it’s worth noting that her path to this point wasn’t without its challenges. Looking back at the early days of her career, Shraddha Kapoor has shared that she experienced a difficult time during her first film, Teen Patti. In the initial stages of shooting, she found herself in a tough spot, admitting to her mother that she didn’t want to continue. She also noted that some people weren’t always kind, as their attitudes changed based on one’s standing within the industry.

During an interview with Cosmopolitan, Shraddha Kapoor reminisced about the difficulties she faced during the production of her first movie, Teen Patti. Looking back at those initial days on set, she shared, “On the second or third day, I had a breakdown and told my mother I didn’t want to return, as I was unfamiliar with this world because I hadn’t acted in a film before and was only 20 or 21 years old.

Shraddha continued by sharing her observations about the unequal treatment she witnessed behind the scenes. She noticed that individuals with established reputations were frequently given preferential treatment, whereas those less known tended to be disregarded or ignored.

She shared that historically, individuals were often not consistently kind. If someone was considered important (‘a somebody’), they’d be addressed differently, while if they were insignificant (‘a nobody’), they’d receive less respectful treatment. This stark contrast was difficult for her to overlook, and experiencing it directly left her feeling discouraged.

Looking back, I can’t help but marvel at how my confidence blossomed following the release of my first film. It wasn’t an easy ride by any means – in fact, it was incredibly challenging. However, as I embarked on my second project, I found myself standing a bit taller, brimming with a newfound sense of self-assuredness.

In the game of Teen Patti, Shraddha played Aparna Khanna, a university student, however, the film failed to perform well financially. A major shift in her career occurred with Aashiqui 2, a movie directed by Mohit Suri, where she shared the screen with Aditya Roy Kapur, which became her breakout role.

After that point, she has established an impressive collection of films, including Ok Jaanu, Ek Villain, Haseena Parker, Half Girlfriend, Chhichhore, Street Dancer 3D, and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, demonstrating her adaptability in diverse film genres. Most recently, Shraddha Kapoor was seen in Stree 2, sharing the screen with Rajkummar Rao.

2024 saw a horror-comedy sequel to the 2018 hit Stree become one of the highest-grossing films at the box office. Joining the star-studded cast in this movie are Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, and Pankaj Tripathi.
