Universal Pictures is rescheduling the release dates for its forthcoming films from two classic animation series.
DreamWorks Animation’s “Shrek 5” has been moved up from its initial release date of July 1, 2026, and will now be shown in cinemas on Dec. 23, 2026. The original voice actors, Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz, are set to reprise their roles for this upcoming “Shrek” sequel, which coincides with the franchise’s 25th anniversary.
Furthermore, “Minions 3” by Illumination has been advanced to premiere in cinemas on July 1, 2026, as opposed to the original release date of June 30, 2027.
Universal has revealed that a yet-to-be-titled film from Illumination will replace the original release date of ‘Minions 3’, moving it to June 30, 2027. This change comes as the untitled movie was initially scheduled for a theater debut on March 19, 2027, but has now been shifted.
More to come.
