As a devoted admirer of both sportsmanship and Bollywood, I find myself utterly captivated by the rollercoaster of emotions that the life of Sidharth Malhotra embodies. The news of Vinesh Phogat’s disqualification from the Paris Olympics 2024 has left a heavy heart in many, including our very own Bollywood hero.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Indian wrestling sensation Vinesh Phogat brought immense pride to our nation by triumphing in the semi-finals of the 50kg freestyle wrestling event at the Paris Olympics 2024. On Wednesday, Phogat was vying for the gold medal, but unfortunately, she was disqualified during the final due to exceeding the weight limit.
During a conversation with Instant Bollywood, Sidharth Malhotra was recently asked about Vinesh Phogat being disqualified from the Paris Olympics at an event. The Shershaah actor stated that he feels disheartened by the decision and added that he is still “rooting for her” to compete for the gold medal.
Sidharth expressed his disappointment but remains hopeful that we’ll learn more about it soon. Just as everyone else, he recently found out about the situation. He’s eagerly wishing for her to have an opportunity to contend for a gold medal or at least secure a silver one.
The sentiment expressed by his words was mirrored by countless Indians, all hoping that Vinesh Phogat would have an opportunity to fight for the gold.
Previously, notable figures from Bollywood such as Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Ananya Panday, Karisma Kapoor, and Varun Dhawan felt deeply saddened upon learning that Vinesh Phogat had been disqualified.
Alia wrote a long post on her Instagram story about Phogat’s disqualification. In this post, she referred to Phogat as an inspiration and said that, while today she must be devastated, they both share in her pain. However, she emphasized that Phogat is strong, like gold, iron, and steel.
In their individual Instagram posts, Ranveer nicknamed her “Vinesh the Exceptional”, Ananya called her “the Champ”, Karisma referred to her as “the Star”, while Varun simply addressed her as “my Champion”.
Following her victory in the semi-finals, Vinesh Phogat made history as the initial Indian female wrestler to advance to the finals of the 50 kg freestyle wrestling at the current Olympics in Paris. However, it was reported that she exceeded the 50-kg weight limit by 100 grams during the finals.
Currently preparing for his next project, “Mitti”, on the professional side, Sidharth Malhotra has been recently visible. He appeared in the film “Yodha” earlier this year. In that movie, he portrayed Arun Katyal, an army soldier who was also part of the Yodha Task Force.
