As a dedicated fan of survival horror games, I can confidently say that the Silent Hill 2 remake has left me spellbound! The speed at which it has reached a staggering 1 million copies sold within just seven days of its launch is nothing short of astounding. To put things into perspective, the original game took a whole month to achieve this milestone back in 2001.
Story Highlights
- The Silent Hill 2 remake is one of the finest new games of 2024, launching to great reception.
- The developer has confirmed that Silent Hill 2 has rolled over 1 million copies as of today.
- This news comes in less than 7 days following the release of the Silent Hill 2 remake.
It seems that the team at Bloober HQ is celebrating quite a lot, as Konami reports that over 1 million copies of the Silent Hill 2 remake have been sold, just six days after its release. This is an impressive feat for a game in the survival horror genre.
1 Million units of the game have been shipped globally, according to Konami, a big thank you to all who’ve enjoyed playing it!
Looking back, it’s important to note that the initial release of Silent Hill 2, dating back to 2001, took approximately a month to achieve this level of sales success, and these figures represent the total sales throughout its entire lifespan.
Despite the fact that there was a lot of anticipation for the remake before it came out, Bloober has gone beyond what was expected with the high caliber of quality shown in this game. It’s the only title I eagerly look forward to playing after work these days, and it deserves every bit of excitement.
The Case For A New Silent Hill Remake Consolidates
I’m confidently hoping that this will provide Konami with clear-cut evidence that Bloober Team can be relied upon to handle additional Silent Hill remakes. Since we’re looking for more competition in the remake sector, as my colleague has explained in a separate piece, and given that Silent Hill 2 sold over a million copies within a week, it’s evident that such success is attainable, despite initial doubts.
Meanwhile, it’s worth noting that Konami is currently developing four additional Silent Hill projects. These include two standalone games, a live-action series for online streaming, and a film based on the Silent Hill universe.
