In the recent Nintendo Switch 2 Direct presentation, Silksong made a brief appearance, lasting only a couple of moments. A fleeting image was displayed, along with confirmation that the game will be released sometime in the year 2025.
The eagerly awaited sequel to Hollow Knight often serves as a running gag during presentations, especially when a Direct is involved. Silksong was initially announced in the year 2019, so fans have been patiently waiting for more than six years now.
To give credit where it’s due, Team Cherry, a diligent indie studio, initially envisioned Silksong on a smaller scale. Originally planned as a DLC for Hollow Knight, the team gradually expanded their vision, transforming Silksong into a standalone sequel project.
In the future, specifically in the year 2022, the game is expected to resurface with an exciting new trailer. Additionally, it was announced that Silksong would be available on Game Pass on its release date, whenever that might be.
In January this year, the developers reassured fans that Silksong is not being canceled and is indeed in development, albeit without a specified release date yet. The brief appearance of Switch 2 has kept alive the anticipation that Silksong could be revealed at future events.
Regardless, the anticipated release year for Silksong is 2025. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that this predicted date materializes.
