Simu Liu Reveals Epic Avengers: Doomsday Cast with Robert Downey Jr. & Chris Hemsworth!

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s superheroes have joined forces during the shoot of the much-awaited movie titled “Avengers: Endgame“. Recently (on May 2nd), actor Simu Liu from “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” posted a picture (see below) from the film’s set, showcasing him along with nine other cast members, including Robert Downey Jr., who will portray the villain they’ll all be combating – Doctor Doom.

Last Friday afternoon, I shared a genuine photo on my Instagram story, featuring quite an impressive gathering. Included in the snapshot were Liu, Shang-Chi, RDJ’s Doom, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Channing Tatum as Gambit, Winston Duke as M’Baku, and two esteemed members of The Fantastic Four: Vanessa Kirby portraying Susan Storm/The Invisible Woman, and Ebon-Moss Bachrach playing Ben Grimm/The Thing.

The sneak peek doesn’t reveal much about the cast members wearing their costumes or the sets they are filming on at the moment. However, with the casting announcement for Doomsday and the picture suggesting that only a few people are working on this project currently, it appears that Chris Hemsworth as Thor is the only original Avenger from the MCU appearing in the movie. There’s still no confirmation about Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk or Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye. Considering recent statements made by Jeremy Renner himself, there’s speculation whether Hawkeye will make an appearance in Doomsday.

Jeremy Renner Was Offered Only “Half the Money” to Make ‘Hawkeye’ Season 2

The movie titled “Avengers: Doomsday,” scheduled for release more than a year from now, is expected to generate buzz with an influx of behind-the-scenes images shared online. These sneak peeks are meant to excite and intrigue Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fans before the film hits theaters next summer. It’s hoped that additional cast members for “Doomsday” will be announced, possibly during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. However, Jeremy Renner’s recent podcast interview suggests his character may not appear in the 2026 movie, especially if studio executives don’t meet his financial expectations. In an interview on The High Performance podcast on May 1st, Renner disclosed that he declined the opportunity to star in a second season of Disney+’s “Hawkeye” series because he was only offered half the compensation he received for Season 1.

They proposed a Season 2 and gave me only half the original compensation. In response, I thought, ‘This will require twice as much effort for half the pay.’ Essentially, it would consume eight months of my time. Yet, I have to do it for half the price. So, I said, ‘I’m afraid I must decline. Was it assumed that I am only half the Jeremy because I was hit by a vehicle? Perhaps that’s why you want to pay me less?’

Without a doubt, when Renner mentions the incident, he’s referring to the near-fatal accident that almost claimed the life of the Marvel Cinematic Universe star, which occurred back in 2023. In an April revelation, the actor disclosed that he had indeed experienced death following the unfortunate snowplow mishap.

The movie titled “Avengers: Doomsday” will hit theaters on May 1, 2026, and let’s hope that budget-conscious individuals won’t be part of any negotiations if Jeremy Renner is indeed set to reprise his role in the sequel. In the meantime, Marvel Cinematic Universe enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for Doctor Doom’s debut, but they have plenty to keep them entertained until next summer. To start with, the film “Thunderbolts” has started its cinema release, and it seems Marvel’s counterpart to DC’s The Suicide Squad is receiving positive feedback following its Thursday night previews, which grossed $11.5 million. Fans are raving about this superhero ensemble movie, and as a result, “Thunderbolts” has earned a “Verified Hot” 95% on the Popcornmeter based on over 1,000 ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. To add to that, even the critics are praising director Jake Schreier’s film, as indicated by its “Certified Fresh” 88% Tomatometer rating.
