Simu Liu Reveals Which Shang-Chi Character He Wants To Reunite With, And I Couldn’t Agree More

As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the Marvel universe, I can confidently say that the addition of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings to the cinematic tapestry was nothing short of exhilarating. The first film was a refreshing breath of fresh air, and I eagerly await any news about its sequel.

People who have been following the Marvel cinematic saga for years are well aware that this universe continues to grow, appearing not just on the big screen but also through a Disney+ subscription. Although there have been some missteps post-“Avengers: Endgame”, one standout success was Destin Daniel Cretton’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”. Simu Liu expressed his desire for a reunion with a specific character from “Shang-Chi”, and I wholeheartedly concur.

Ever since the debut of Shang-Chi, enthusiasts have yearned for updates regarding its sequel, yet the studio remains tight-lipped about its plans. Despite this, it appears that a follow-up is in store at some point, and fans are chomping at the bit for any tidbits. In a recent panel at Fan Expo Canada (as reported by Collider), Liu expressed his desire to team up with Michelle Yeoh’s character Ying Nan once more. He fondly reminisced about collaborating with her on the initial film.

In our collaborative performances, encountering her in combat felt more like a choreographed dance battle instead. To be honest, I was quite anxious and, on top of that, she’s so delicate and agile, making me feel like an awkwardly large mass trying to move gracefully. It suited the scene, though? She seems to be coaching me to find balance within myself, and it has a strong influence from Tai Chi. Consequently, it’s quite fluid, as if she’s leading you gently, while I stumble about. I didn’t need much to get into character, and she’s fantastic! A truly wonderful person to spend time with.

As a gamer putting myself in the shoes of Simu Liu, facing off against Michelle Yeoh in a fight scene for an upcoming Marvel movie definitely feels intimidating. With her reputation as one of Hollywood’s top stunt and action performers, not to mention her exceptional acting skills, it’s clear she’s someone I’d love to share more screen time with as Shang-Chi’s Aunt.

Michelle Yeoh has been experiencing a surge in her acting career, with a significant part of it attributed to her Academy Award-winning role in “Everything Everywhere All At Once.” As a result, it’s uncertain whether she will be included in the cast for “Shang-Chi 2,” or if she could be tied up with other projects. Let’s hope that fans and Liu (presumably referring to Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of Shang-Chi) get their wish and see her reappear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe again.

In the movie Shang-Chi, an impressive array of acting talent was featured, with Michelle Yeoh playing a secondary character in the plotline. Whether we’ll encounter these characters once more hinges on whether the location Ta Lo returns to the shared universe’s ongoing story.

Many fans are eagerly anticipating updates about Simu Liu’s iconic character and the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). One intriguing tale doing the rounds online is that Shang-Chi was initially slated to be a key figure in the upcoming ‘Avengers: Kang Dynasty’, but the studio subsequently altered their plans. Will he shine in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’? We’ll have to wait and see.

As a die-hard Marvel fan, I’m thrilled to share that the upcoming MCU film gracing our screens is “Captain America: Brave New World,” set to premiere on Valentine’s Day, February 14th. In the meantime, mark your calendars for the future release dates of other Marvel movies in 2025!
