As a die-hard fan of Rohit Shetty and the Singham franchise, I must say the release of Singham Again was like Diwali coming early! The film had all the ingredients that make for a perfect Bollywood masala movie – action, drama, comedy, and a dash of romance. But what truly sets this film apart is Ajay Devgn’s powerful performance as Bajirao Singham.
In Bollywood, Singham Again, featuring Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, and Arjun Kapoor, was a much-awaited movie that hit the screens on November 1, 2024. The film boasted powerful acting, catchy tunes, an engaging plot, intense action scenes, and humor, typical of the franchise. However, what fans were looking forward to – the original Singham theme song – was missing in the final cut. Lately, director Rohit Shetty disclosed that the track wasn’t included due to a copyright claim by T-series.
In their recent chat with Mashable India, the movie director acknowledged the fan dissatisfaction and clarified that they couldn’t include the Singham theme song in the latest sequel due to T-Series, the copyright holders of the track, filing a copyright claim against them.
It appears that the T-Series made a copyright claim, which forced us to take it down everywhere. I’m wondering, what should we do about this situation?
In case you haven’t heard, Ajay Devgn’s movie released alongside Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 during Diwali, and it was distributed by T-Series. Despite encountering this box office competition, Ajay chose not to voice concerns over the matter. Instead, he acknowledged that the contracts permitted them to go ahead with this arrangement.
He said, “That’s how it goes contractually, and contracts work in a similar fashion, so it’s all good.
In a recent interview, the director of Golmaal Again was asked if he attempted to secure the rights in any manner or engaged in negotiations during that particular scenario. Yet, Shetty clarified that no such attempts were made, as they simply didn’t have the time due to their busy schedule with the film production and thus moved forward with other work instead.
The main theme song for Singham, a 2011 release that kicked off the Singham series, was created by Ajay Atul. T-series currently holds the rights to this tune. Notably, when the soundtrack for Singham Again came out, it initially drew from parts of the original track.
Consequently, YouTube took it down because of a copyright complaint from T-Series, as suggested by the thumbnail. Subsequently, Rohit Shetty and his team revised it and published it on another channel.
Regardless of any challenges, the film Singham Again managed to earn an impressive Rs. 193 crores within just ten days, making it the top-grossing movie in the entire Singham series.
