Sev Ohanian, along with Ryan Coogler, reveals the concealed correlation between Coogler’s acclaimed vampire-era film and a yet-to-be-made Marvel production.
During a recent interview on the show, Ohanian praised both Marvel Studios and renowned costume designer Ruth Carter. It turned out that Carter had been working on a movie that didn’t end up being produced. At one stage, this movie was intended to explore events from the same period as what the film eventually covered. Carter has discussed this before.
She just so happened to own a warehouse filled with clothing suitable for the time period,” Ohanian added, “and it was as if we needed to start filming the movie the very next day. Marvel graciously allowed us to buy it at a reasonable price.” Ohanian then mentioned that most of the costumes bought from Marvel Studios were worn by background actors and extras in the film, which could have saved the production team countless hours of work in sourcing and producing costumes themselves.
Written and directed by Ryan Coogler, the filmmaker behind Black Panther, Sinners stars Michael B. Jordan in two roles as twin brothers Elijah “Smoke” and Elias “Stack” Moore. Following their military service during World War I, they return to Mississippi where they start a new venture – owning a local juke joint inside an old sawmill. However, peace is short-lived as a group of roaming vampires descend upon Clarksdale, causing destruction and fear among the unaware townsfolk. Upon its release, the movie garnered acclaim from critics and audiences alike and ultimately grossed more than $364 million at the box office.
What Happened to Marvel Studios’ MCU Blade Movie?
Since 2019, Mahershala Ali had been linked to a project that would have debuted the character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In fact, he lent his voice anonymously as Blade in a post-credits scene from the 2021 film “Eternals”. Regrettably, the “Blade” reboot faced complications over several years and was ultimately removed from Marvel Studios’ release schedule. Although specifics about the movie’s plot have been scarce, it was announced that this would be the earliest film in the MCU timeline chronologically.
