The debut trailer for the movie “Sky Force,” starring Akshay Kumar and Veer, was unveiled at a special gathering in Mumbai. This event brought together the main cast and producers such as Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande, among others. During the Q&A session, Vijan highlighted that despite the pandemic, five Hindi films have surpassed the 500-crore mark, in response to Naga Vamsi’s comments criticizing the Hindi film industry for creating movies solely for the neighborhoods of Bandra and Juhu.
On January 5th, during the unveiling of Sky Force’s trailer, Akshay Kumar and Dinesh Vijan were questioned about Naga Vamsi’s comment regarding Bollywood producing movies for Bandra and Juhu. They were asked to respond to the Devara producer’s remark of seemingly undervaluing the industry by pointing out that all of Mumbai didn’t sleep after Pushpa 2 made over Rs. 80 crore in one day – a testament to the growing appreciation and celebration for the Indian film industry.
Dinesh Vijan highlighted that since the pandemic, five Hindi films have managed to surpass the 500 crore mark, a feat unseen before. He pointed out, “Although we may not talk about ourselves much, it’s undeniable that we’ve produced five massive films. It’s important to remember that Maddock Films and Jio Films alone can’t sustain the entire industry. So, there might be a few individuals here and there who doubt, but whenever I venture into the South, I’ve always found a very warm and encouraging response.
The Sky Force producer mentioned that if you consider it as part of the Indian film industry, it would amount to approximately 1300 crores (13 billion rupees). However, he also stated that they are not aiming for this figure. Akshay, who was standing beside Vijan, concurred with the producer’s remarks.
For those unfamiliar, film producers Naga Vamsi (from Devara) and Boney Kapoor recently sat down for a chat with Galatta Plus’s Producers Roundtable. The discussion focused on the influence of South Indian cinema in international markets.
It was at that point when Naga commented on how the South film industry has influenced the perspective of Bollywood regarding cinema. As he explained, Bollywood had been limited to producing films for areas like Bandra and Juhu. However, he asserted that films such as Baahubali, RRR, Animal, and Jawan have brought about a shift in the industry’s approach.
Under the direction of Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Anil Kapur, the film “Sky Force” is set to premiere on January 24, 2025.
