Once the acquisition of Paramount Global by Skydance is finalized, significant transformations are expected for CBS and CBS News.
Skydance has informed the Federal Communications Commission that after finalizing its purchase of Paramount Global, they intend to conduct a thorough examination of CBS to guarantee it serves the public’s best interests. They also plan to appoint an ombudsman who will work under the president of CBS News and address any allegations of bias or other concerns within the news division by reviewing and evaluating them.
The ombudsman position will be secure for a minimum period of two years, with the management team at CBS News promising to thoughtfully examine any grievances that arise.
Skydance has made a decision to discontinue all initiatives aimed at promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the company. In a letter, they express their commitment to telling stories that represent various audiences and communities they serve while adhering to anti-discrimination regulations and relevant laws.
Skydance made the commitments in a pair of letters to the FCC.
More to come.
