Sledgehammer finally addresses Modern Warfare 3's ‘glaring’ map issues

As a dedicated Call of Duty multiplayer enthusiast with over a decade of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel like I’ve finally found a breath of fresh air in Modern Warfare 3 (MW3). The recent shift towards enjoying the game rather than grinding for weapon XP has been a welcome change. However, the fascination with small maps seems to be waning, and that’s where Sledgehammer Games steps in.

With the tedious process of upgrading weapon XP now a thing of the past, there’s a renewed focus on simple pleasure in Call of Duty multiplayer. As the appeal of compact play areas wanes, it seems the game has shifted its emphasis.

Over the past several weeks, there’s been a persistent complaint among players about the repetitive selection of game modes like Rust, Nighttime Rust, Shipmas, and other smaller map variations. The larger Modern Warfare 2 remakes have been overlooked and taken down instead.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but appreciate the way Sledgehammer Games consistently listens and acts. They’ve been tuned in, with an ear close to the ground, addressing the noticeable map problems head-on by expanding the scope of their standard playlists, creating a broader pool for all of us gamers to enjoy!

Sledgehammer Games cuts back on repetitive small maps in MW3

Starting from August 13, I’ve noticed a change in Modern Warfare 3’s map rotation. Seems like Sledgehammer Games is making sure we get a more spacious battleground by decreasing the occurrence of smaller maps in Quick Play modes such as Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, and Domination. This should provide a more expansive, engaging experience for players like me.

As a long-time Call of Duty fanatic with countless hours spent on Modern Warfare 2 (MW2), I am beyond thrilled about the potential revival of classic maps like Underpass and Wasteland. For years, these iconic battlefields have been relegated to the annals of gaming history, seemingly forgotten by developers. However, recent rumors suggest that this could all change.

Indeed, Rust is going to be impacted by these alterations, as evidenced by Sledgehammer Games’ social media account giving a nod of approval to a fan’s request to “reduce the frequency of Rust showing up excessively“.

Not to fear, small map lovers

We’ve made an update to #MW3 playlists, focusing on enhancing the mix of maps across both Quick Play and the Mini Map Mosh Pit.

For those who still appreciate the fast-paced experience offered by the “hell-for-leather” maps, you can breathe easily since the Small Map Moshpit is here to stay as a regular feature in Modern Warfare 3.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled about the adjustments to the rotation of various maps. The developers have emphasized that we’ll see fewer map variations, which is great news for favorites like Stash House and Meet as they’ll get more playtime. It seems like the team at Sledgehammer is truly tuned in, so I’m looking forward to these popular maps shining brighter!
